Came for the money but fell in love with Rolex watches!!

Not ashamed to admit it, yes, the alore of an expensive piece of jewelry and its ability to retain value lored me in.

But, little to my surprise the world of Rolex and its simplistic beauty grabbed my attention and interest!

Now, I'm hooked....

Moral.....Not always is the dollar dollar bill a bad thing, when it comes to Rolex.

I've got a lot to learn and lovin it!

"Simplistic beauty"... I think the supposed simplicity of its beauty is deceptive. There's nothing simple or simplistic about the beauty of the Oyster case. If we agree on beauty, that's fine, though.
Cheers

I came to be James Bond; money had nothing to do with it. Now I don't even own a Sub.

Whatever your reasons are to buy or collect an item are at your own discretion. Nothing wrong with wanting to buy something that has potential to retain its value.

Despite an unfortunate choice of words, I have to agree.

Prior to owning a Rolex, I was not even impressed with Rolex.

I just bought one, so that I could say that I owned just one "luxury" watch.

Now, I own six and had seven at one time.

As a diver at heart a sub was a natural for me when I could afford one.

Spending a lot of time in International Airports started my passion , all these people that have come for the hype will probably still get addicted anyway

When I was in high school in the mid-60's, I saw a Submariner in the case at Marshall Field's jewelry dept. (then a dealer) and it was the most beautiful watch I had ever seen. Six years later, after college, I bought one and still have it.

Sorry to say it looks really bad on you. You're gonna need to sell it to me for $5,000.

I agree, I posted a quick thought.....Title was based off a car club "slogan".....

"I came for the cars, but stayed for the people."

Was always fascinated and amazed with watches as mechanical works of art and science. Bought my first Rolex a little over a year ago and continue to be drawn in by their brilliance and lasting beauty. My fascination has become an addiction.

I stayed away from Rolex a decade ago as I thought they were too obvious, how naive were we back then to what could be!, but the quality, feel and reliability of the watches won me over.

In the late 70s, I went on a scuba diving trip. I couldn't believe someone would pay $400 for a watch, and then go diving! Then the bezel fell off the cheap one I had. :-)

I am still not really impressed with Rolex as I think its brand is worth far more than the actual watches.

However, they really are built to last. I have to give them that.
