Is the new Submariner very high in demand ?
I have been away from the watches for over 10 years now. Recently a friend told me the submariner is in extremely high demand and out of stock at every dealership. Is this true ?

I think your friend has been winding you up. I picked up a Green Bezel one yesterday from my Local AD. He has Black and Green. To close the deal, he offered me 15% off RRP.

Might want to take another 10 year break and skip this era. Plenty of complainers but no submariners

Sub should be easy to get (if you are a preferred client).

You should just buy it from grey market. You won't get one at the AD anytime soon and in a couple of years you will still be able to sell it at profit as the market is only going up. Sad story but that is the most likely outcome.

I went into my AD just this morning to buy a new Omega Planet Ocean and they wouldn't sell one to me unless I bought one of their stainless steel Submariners first. They have so many of them that they expected me to buy a Submariner just to build a relationship so I can get the pieces I really want from Omega and Breitling:)

Too many people just being dicks. Yes they're tough to get. You have two options. 1. Buy grey Market 2. Get acquainted with AD, buy a lower end watch, then get on the list for submariner 6-12 months Hope that helps |

Go grey, on Subs it won’t hurt as much.

I have to believe with some effort and strong interest you can obtain a new Sub in less than 6 months. I truly believe that.

not impossible but hard depends on your history with your AD and how much you've spent. even with that you might have a year long wait .... could be shorter could be longer. I got my new Kermit in 5 weeks but different for everyone otherwise go secondary and you will have tomorrow but paying premium |

It really depends on where you live. Some areas demand serious buy history before you can get one some don’t. I would walk into several ADs in your area and see what they say. .

Are we talking black sub, blue sub, green sub? Which one are you trying to get?

I got one a couple weeks back. I was on the list for a better part of two years though.

Getting easier every week.
Note the proportions of the new model changed, reviews are mixed. |

To the OP sorry so many are having fun at your expense.
Yes the Sub is very hard to get as are all of the steel Rolexes sports models. Some are harder to get than others. Search the Forum and you will see there are hundreds of posts about the Rolex shortage. I bought an AP RO a few years ago for less than MSRP. Didn't really pay attention to prices for years and I was shocked to see the current prices on the grey market. I posed the the question about the rarity of the RO on the AP Forum and got a quick education from some posters. Funny thing is all along I was following the Rolex shortage and was unaware the same thing was happening with AP and Pateks. We need to realize that not everyone who post a question reads the Forum every day or follows the ask price on Chrono24 daily. |
