GS Experience - Now What?

First time for me putting the GS on my wrist, went to see and decide buy the SBGJ237 and noticed the white dial dress GMT.

I was smitten by how the white dial played under light am I wrong ?

I was very pleased to see that the SA who presented the watches knew about differences, materials and movements.

Nice experience and would visit again probably leave with my first GS, wanted to share the good vibes visiting and trying the grand seiko

The finish on the watches is superb as others already mentioned, my only gripe with the 237 is not to stay fit on the wrist and move under the weight at 44mm

Mandatory photos

Cheers & Stay Safe

Love the white dial and how the polish on the markers/case capture/play with the light. I don't believe anything under 10k can touch the dialwork/case of a GS. If GS could come up with a bracelet anywhere close to a Glidelock system it would be scary how good GS would be.

That GMT with the "blizzard" dial is stunning. I've tried it on too. I actually prefer the SBGE205 GMT, with the champagne dial and spring drive (also different case), but they're both beautiful.

Good luck in the hunt for your first GS!

Don't know if I could get passed the fact that it says seiko on it. Either way, it's an abosulte cracker

Well, that would rule out the entire brand, of course. I'd suggest checking out GS watches in person before deciding that a word is a deal-breaker.

I have the Skyflake as my only GS (so far). When I see the dial in the sunlight, it makes my heart skip a beat. I'll definitely be adding more to my collection.

Between the tried models my initial impression is that one looks and it will get attention immediately and the other one is more subtle it will not get noticed under the radar.

237 was like a jewel all shine the bezel, case you will definitely receive compliments or questions

201 is for the wearer only but that dial is stunning once you look down

In my opinion both worth the prices , will see what happens but definitely I would advise for one to try the GS line and see the quality.

A very underrated aspect of buying an Grand Seiko is the fact that they have developed and now pushed out there GS9 club.

If you haven’t looked into what the GS9 club is I highly recommend it. You have to go on and prove that you’ve purchased at least one watch from an authorized dealer share photos and proof of purchase in your name of that watch.

Once Grand Seiko verifies that info, you’re basically your own authorized dealer.

You can now access their entire catalog, including boutique only pieces and Limited pieces and buy directly online from Grand Seiko and they’ll ship the watch directly to your house.

Imagine if other brands did this, it’s kind of unheard of.

This does of course leave you at purchasing at MSRP, but I believe that’s where Grand Seiko is heading anyway.

If you’re GS9 member and want to get a new white birch, no need for wait lists....you can pre-order now and when they release them, they will ship one to your house.

This is once again proof Grand Seiko is firing on all cylinders and out thinking the rest of the room in my opinion.

1. Unfortunately you must purchase your GS in the US to apply for membership.

2. Nothing you mentioned as a benefit for GS9 member is exclusively. You’ll get the same advantages when you buy online from a Grand Seiko Boutique website in any country.

3. I agree with your last sentence and really appreciate initiatives like a member club for owners and do hope they expand this outside the US sooner or later. They provide exclusive contents and organise things like online events for their members.

The SBGJ201 is a great option if you’re still considering it. The Mt. Iwate dial is a stunner.

To dismiss Grand Seiko without seeing one in person and trying it on your wrist is depriving yourself of experiencing how brilliant these watches are. The very fine craftsmanship doesn’t always make itself apparent in photos. There is no substitute for getting up close to one of these and seeing it in the light of day.

It is a good choice, my friend! The dial’s beautiful and the finishing on both the hands and markers, as well as the case, is mesmerizing. The blue GMT hand is gorgeous.

Though the hands and markers lack lume, the watch is legible with nearly any level of ambient light, thanks to the fine polish on both the hands and the markers.

Love the blizzard. Check out the SBGM221 if you're into something more dressy.
