Fear of discontinuation

I have ordered a blue dial Daytona. My AD says it's due in May. What happens if it gets discontinued in April? Is it possible it's made and I will get it, or doesn't Rolex allow that?

You would either get it if it existed or not?
Perhaps AD is the one to ask as they are in the know

Discontinued watches show up after they are discontinued until they are no longer in the factory. Sounds like you have one with your name on it regardless. Look forward to seeing it when it comes. I’m looking to add one myself.

You’re in a very similar position as I am but with a different model. I’ve personally seen NOS still being delivered to ADs even after a model has been discontinued. I think it’s just a matter of luck as the final product that Rolex has in stock is being distributed to ADs after discontinuation. Truth is only Rolex knows how many of which model they will be distributing to specific geographies after discontinuation so keep you fingers crossed if that’s indeed the fate of the 116508!

Does Rolex discontinue the most popular models, or the least popular.....

Or maybe just intentional rumors, to increase higher FOMO?

Oh, welcome Poli!

It’s easy to “order” any model. The hard part is getting that order fulfilled

I just bought a discontinued 116618LN last month with new warranty card at an AD.

I think it will work out for you.

Ask the person you placed the order with?

Well, they're not going to throw the models they've manufactured in the trash if it is, indeed, discontinued.

Discontinued just means they're not going to be producing them any longer. There will still be the same numbers of the watch in the supply chain as before April 7, the only difference is, when they're gone, there won't be any watches replacing them.

Worse than that, Peter. We're headed for "how much more will my watch be worth if it is discontinued"

OP, if its discontinued. It's gone bud. Especially a piece like that.

Thus the definition of discontinued.

If they are going to be discontinued, perhaps you should try to get several now.

Thanks for your inputs. Hopefully it will not be discontinued and my anxiety will come down. My person at the AD checked resently and said it will be delivered around May. Who he checked with, I don't know.. Maybe with Rolex if he ordered that watch specially?

References still trickle out after discontinuation. Take a look at the GMT LN. I’m sure you’ll get it in May if your AD says so regardless if it’s discontinued or not.

Funny, there were discontinuation discussions back in 2007.... So apparently we have always been the discontinued / fear of being discontinued forum....

TBH - Seems like there has always been the same type of questions here going back as far as the search will allow...

I would think this is expected as more and more people join to ask questions about watches...

OP,

Do not try to get the discontinued watch. That’s impossible. Instead, try to realize the truth: There is no watch.

Welcome to the forum.
