Stainless Daytona as a One Watch Collection

Has anyone used a stainless Daytona as their one watch collection? Their everyday watch?

If so, how did it go?

I still like having a beater or GMT in the mix.

i want to go with my white SS Daytona as my one and only and sell off my other timepieces

i don't think i can do it, at least not now. Just too fun collecting, buying, selling, wearing, and admiring all my watches

However as time progresses and i get older and older.... the likelihood of that happening increases with every year. that sometime in the long future my one watch will be the SS Daytona

For the last four years, I've worn a platinum Daytona every day. Does that count?

I do, but wear it 3-4 days a week.
It’s nice. Flys under the radar

I’ve worn my 116500 daily in rotation for 4 years. Vacations, beaches, pools, kids, etc.

It’s going very well. Wish it had a date but that would ruin the other things that make the watch almost perfect, as nothing truly is perfect.

I use the chronograph to time things often as well, so that is always fun interacting with it in that way.

Has a fair amount of wear unfortunately, but I’m sure it can all be rectified upon service depending on how much I want to pursue that course of action.

It’s doable if necessary but I do prefer a watch with a date. If I had to go one watch it would be a watch with a date. For sentimental reasons it would be either my wedding present, a lapis dial Day Date or my recent birthday present, a new Pepsi.

I wear my 116500 most of the time these days. These watches are made to be worn and enjoyed

I wear my 116500 daily. It is perfectly capable of being an only watch. In fact, it was my only watch for a while, but I picked up a DJ41, which may or may not stay. The polished areas can be scratch prone and it doesn't have a date, but it's rock solid otherwise. Water resistant case, tough ceramic bezel, tried and true movement (accurate too), solid bracelet. Aesthetically, it fits in anywhere, from sportier to dressier settings.

If you really want the date, you can use the chrono seconds hand for that. Also, you can use the hour sub dial as a second time zone, so it can act as a GMT with a little creativity.

Very possible. It’s the most comfortable Rolex, looks great and has a ceramic bezel so it’ll stand up to daily wear.

I'd love to have that in my collection, but I don't think it could be my one and only.

Tough to be an only watch with no date.

I had one and to be honest, got very low wrist time. I always missed the date function when using the Daytona. To me, the way it looks now, it's more of a dress / flashy watch, and would not be a daily wearer for me again if I'd get one.

I wear my 116500 as daily as well. The size is perfect and the flat case back makes the watch extremely comfortable to wear

I wore a black 116520 almost every day from 2004-08, it’s certainly rugged enough for anything.
My current black 116500 rotates daily with my BLRO but since the GMT is off at the RSC the Daytona is mostly daily duty.

I'd get bored real quick with a Daytona as a 1 watch collection - it's pretty boring and flat in the flesh. It's the type of watch that would always do well with a partner or two.

Probably the wrong place to ask. Most people only have 1 watch. This forum is full of weirdos that have lots of watches..

I like having a date, but then again I'll wear my Daytona for a couple months straight sometimes, so I guess the answer is yes.

Lots of love for someone dailying that watch! That is truly a watch to be enjoyed every day.

I do hope you've done something cool with that giant box it came with.

Stainless Daytona as a One Watch Collection

I have not and don't think that I could.

This. I’ve had at least a half dozen and couldn’t find the love. Although I kept trying. Now in pm it’s a different story.

I have the steel daytona, 116520 and for me, it can't be a one and only daily watch.

Because the polished steel bezel and PCL bracelet, its a scratch magnet and the lack of date complication.

I find that I wore the steel datejust (oyster bracelet) more often, easy to dress up or down.

Don’t get me wrong I love all my Daytona’s. The 500 the most but no way as as my one and only or even all 3.

I’d miss my SkyD and Explorers too much. Well actually all the rest to. Been wearing my 216570 for about a week straight.

This is the perfect description.

Having the 116500 White Dial as my one and ONLY watch is the current status of my “collection”.

This was the 1st luxury watch and 1st Rolex I ever purchased and I was able to purchase it at an AD.

LOVE IT!

In my opinion.... I wouldn’t have started this love for watches any other way. The wait was well worth it for this timepiece. It’s a daily wearer for me and fits every occasion from wearing around the house to dressing up.

As a footnote I’ve yet to own a Sub, GMT, DayDate, YM, SD, SkyDw, Explorer, Datejust, etc. so I have no comparison to owning other models in the Rolex line.

But the Daytona makes me want more....

The potential next piece would be
(in order of preference)
- 126610lv 41mm Kermit
- 126710BLRO
- Patek 5167a
- 326934 SkyDweller Blue dial

A stainless steel Daytona as an only watch?

A normal person would do that and be supremely happy.

Sometimes I wish I could be that person.
