Well my favorite is the 16700/16710 but the 16610/14060 is a very close second!

Totally agree, this is my favourite watch that I will never part with, this was my dream and will never forget putting it on my wrist for the first time.

All time classic for sure- works in all situations, even on the wrist of the Fed chairman Jerome Powell, who could likely afford any watch he wishes to own.

Can anyone comment on the fit/comfort of the 16610 versus the 16710? Do they wear roughly the same, or does the casebook of the Sub take it down a notch in comfort compared to 16710?

It’s a classic. Been wanting to pick one up but current prices are madness

They wear very similarly on the wrist. The 16710 is thinner but it's not really noticeable in terms of "wearing". All of the 5-digit references, 16600 SeaDweller included, wear similar with some slight visual variation but are all very comfortable on the wrist.

I'm wearing my 16610 every day since I've bought it 2 years ago. And after flipping 4 other watches I'm finally fully satisfied and can't see it going anywhere. It wins in comfort, versatility and robustness. And looks awesome :).

16710 wears slightly better because of smaller weight, thickness and case size (39,5mm vs 40mm), but it's not drastic difference.

Is the 16710 really a smaller case size? Lots of descriptions say they are 40mm.

It is my one and only Rolex. I like it much more than the more recent versions. Perfect size.

Sorry Paul, I've made a mistake, I thought GMT has also smaller case like Explorer II, Sub without date and Seadweller, but it has not. It's significantly thinner than 16610 by 0.6mm, but it has same case size.

That helps. I asked because I've seen it listed as having both dimensions from several sources.

Yup, after owning several 5 and 6 digits I determined a SEL/Lug Hole 16610 is best Sub with a few personal changes.

- no cyclops (removed with hammer and knife)
- 16610LV hands
- Full brushed treatment

Wear it for all things, today I'm running impact tools working on the vehicle. It gets it's fair share of abuse.

Regret selling my T-dial with lug holes....bought and sold for $4,500. Have thought about getting another but no way in hell I’m buying one at double that price.

I wear it everyday. Better proportions than the 116610 (too chunky) and better movement than the 126610 (32XX movements are suspect in my book). You can even see that I use the bezel to time stuff, since it isn't perfectly lined up on the 12...My favorite Rolex.

For what it's worth, it was practically "unworn" and had only been de-stickered 6 months before I bought it so the price reflected that.

However I'm now seeing very worn and polished examples now being asked at $9k plus.

Ours could be twins. My first Rolex purchased on 25th Nov 1995. Still looks as good as the day I got it. Will never part with it

16710 is noticeably lighter , even more so with Jubilee , and thinner so it sits lower on the wrist. Also the crown protrudes WAY less than on 16610 or 14060M. Thought I’d mention that as no one else has.
