What Was Your Personal Biggest Surprise of the New Line-Up

For me, it is the SS BLRO on Oyster.

I never saw that coming.

Same, I’m excited about the oyster option added back to the GMT line. Best of both worlds for ultimate flexibility to enjoy the jubilee and oyster whenever you want

I'd have to say the steel & gold explorer. Love the new 36mm size, the bi-metal not so much.

Yeah, I admit that that took me by surprise, but it's not so out of line when you consider the TT and PM options on other professional series watches.

I understood the Oyster bracelet on the BLRO as being indicative of a PM watch, as Rolex does delineate PM and SS models by such means.

I never thought they’d offer meteorite on any other gold than white. Was surprised when I saw the new meteorite Daytona on yellow and rose!

Maybe Rolex is feeling more adventurous, as we approach the 25th anniversary of the new century.

Yeah, would be interesting to understand their reasoning on adding the oyster. It's great SS owners have choice, but at same time, unfortunate for WG owners to lose the extra exclusivity.

It was surprising to see the Explorer go back to 36mm, and the “Explorer” text moved back to the top of the dial. I like the changes.

That was a pleasant surprise, but even though I didn't make a formal prediction, by the time I read the thousands of posts predicting a 41mm Explorer, I thought that now would be a great time to bring back the 36mm.

And really, when I saw it on the website, my feeling was one less of surprise than of reassurance that classics get that way for a reason.

TT Explorer 1 at 36mm. Not my cup of tea but the "most surprising" - most of us saw the jubilee / oyster option coming from leaks.

Probably the move back to a 36mm Explorer. This is the first time we’ve seen Rolex increase a size in a model line, then move the size back... which I find interesting.

The two-tone Explorer was also a bit of a surprise but about as much as a two-tone SeaDweller was. People had the same comments about that going to a two-tone option when that came out.

This was my favorite release day since I’ve been following them. Not because of what they actually released (although I’m even more in love with the ss exp1 now) but because of what they DIDN’T do.

Going in, I had my self convinced that to save tooling expenses Rolex was going to slowly make MOST of their pieces a uniformed size 41mm. To see the exp2 stay 42mm and the exp1 go back to 36mm I was very happy that they aren’t just slapping different makeup on the same ol’ oyster for every model :)

That being said, I’m glad the exp1 went back down rather than up in size and I love that they are offering either bracelet for the gmt. I hope that becomes more normalized again like it was for vintage models. Having options definitely gives the owner a more personal feel!

My biggest surprises were what wasn’t released.

I was brainwashed into thinking we’ll see the Exp II upgraded with a ceramic bezel. The other shocker is the Exp I was downgraded to 36.

Down-sized, I think, is the word you're looking for.

Actually the green and yellow leaf dials. Those were the hottest rolex releases to me.

Couldn’t that have been accomplished by buying an oyster band previously?

Biggest surprise: Return to 36. That’s a great comeback IMO. TT will have its niche too. Nothing wrong with adding some gold.

Biggest relief: After waiting years for an updated Explorer II polar, my biggest fear was that it would change drastically. That they may screw up a watch that I honestly love. If shrunken or ceramicized, I would have regretted not buying the previous version while it was commonly available through my A.D. Luckily, all they did was make refinements, like what Rolex is famous for.

Trust in Rolex LOL.

The TT Explorer and lack of change in the ExII was equally surprising to me.

I’m a fan of the sizing down to 36mm, though.
