Cellini Dual Time Discontinued

Hello everyone,

Just noticed that the Cellini Dual time has been retired. I suspect they'll be retiring the Cellini collection in a few years, if not next. I cannot wait to see what replaces it!

Cellini Dual Time Discontinued

I’d like to see the Cellini line dramatically improved so it’s more competitive with dress watches from other brands. The moonphase is really nice IMHO, so that’s a good foundational watch to build around. The rest of the line just doesn’t compete well in its current form.

I think I would have to agree with @krash but I do think there is still a place in the market for them. They carry such a classy look, of course for those dressier occasions, but I do feel like it signifies the classiest line in the catalog. Thinking off of what you said, do you think that some may appreciate greatly over time after its discontinual. I was looking at this guide that showed a lot of info on the Cellini. "In contrast to the design consistency of Rolex Oyster watches, Rolex Cellini watches are incredibly diverse, featuring an expansive array of case shapes, bracelet designs, movement types, and material options". https://www.bobswatches.com/rolex-bl...ing-guide.html
I think with that said I personally feel like we will see the price of these older Cellini models rising throughout time, especially if they are retiring the collection.

I agree with you too. Rolex are really lacking in this area I would love to see a nice complicated dress watch from Rolex, that compares with other brands price point.

Afraid I don’t agree. I think the Cellini line...including the dual time, which I owned....are fine watches. 18k gold, screw down crowns, elegant and yet with typically robust Rolex movements.

I get the feeling that most opinions are not based on actual experience of owning and using these first-rate designs. The dual-time felt glorious on the wrist, very handsome. But clearly, the market didn’t agree. So be it.

I'd like to see a Rolex dress watch incorporating a thinner, manual wind movement with a beautifully decorated sapphire caseback (ideally with power reserve on the back a la Moser), packaged in a PM case, leather strap, dial with small seconds-hand or moonphase.

Cellini is a great watch on the wrist. Very elegant easy to wear.

Of course not as flashy and loud as a sports watch with ceramic but that can be a good thing!

Also good value for a gold watch I would say.

Sounds a lot like how the Cellinium used to be designed.

I, for one, really like the Cellini line and acquired a new WG dual time this week. Feels great on the wrist! I was so pleased to see the auto movement, screw down crown, thicker case, etc. which make it a real pleasure to wear. Bought it same time as new black ceramic Daytona and have been wearing the Cellini since then.

Similar to this perhaps?

I just spotted that it’s been discontinued.

I’ve been looking for a nice gold watch for some time. Right now I feel I’m not interested in the usual offerings of PM sports watches or the DD right now.

Having looked at a lot of brands I’m not overly thrilled with an excessively thinned dress style watch either and this is where the Cellini line steps in. It’s Oyster style case sets it apart from the usual thinner gold dress watch offerings from elsewhere without the bulk of the stereotypical gold sports reference, whilst still offering a dress style watch without being a Day Date.

I don't see this happening, so long as It's still the "Rolex Cellini" line. If Cellini were split off into a separate company (remaining a wholly owned subsidiary), with a massive marketing budget, then maybe.

As much as we (and the world) love Rolexes, a "Rolex" isn't going to win out over a Patek, Lange, AP or VC complication, because it's still "just" a Rolex.

There needs to be some brand separation and substantial hype for these to be truly considered in that class.
