Bracelet link scam by grey dealer
Beware!!!!
I purchased a Daytona from one of prominent online grey dealers recently and it was supposed to come with 12 links total; however It arrived with only 11. I called them and they said that they purposely take out one link because they always sell watches that fit 7.5 inch wrists max. They said if I want that link, I have to purchase it separately. I think it such a scam. There is a YouTube video talking about this scam. Please be careful when buying from grey. I don’t know if all grey dealers do this but the one I used blatantly admits it. Damn...this really is like throwing salt on the womb...paying a premium on a Daytona and getting punk'd out of all the bracelet links. Hope you get this accommodated.

All sellers do this they will make the bracelet short, unless you go in.
For a day date for example it’s an instant £500 extra profit. Always be sure to ask in future but if they told you they were supplying all the links then they are wrong. |

Damn, I have a 7.5 inch wrist and all my Oyster Bracelets have 12 links. They wouldn’t fit me with 11. That is something that should have been told to you up front.

Man...that's some despicable behavior- worse than even car dealer "value added" fees and pin striping BS. Name and shame indeed- only way it has even a tiny chance of changing for other folks.

Who are they to dictate how many links a bracelet should have? The watches they sell should come with the standard number of links as sold by Rolex or, if they don't, this should be disclosed up front. No excuses.

Bracelet link scam by grey dealer
If this practice is not disclosed in advance of the sale, or if the watch was advertised as BNIB, complete, everything that comes with a new watch, that’s at minimum an unfortunate way to treat people...or potentially worse.
Even if it’s in the fine print, it’s still a stupid practice. It should be prominently disclosed to potential buyers, assuming it isn’t. If it’s disclosed in the terms of sale or in advertising, yea, the buyer’s responsible for reading the terms and making an informed choice. Not sure of the particulars here, but if it was me, I’d be cautious about referring to that party as a scammer or the practice as a scam unless you’re certain no notice posted or disclosed, etc. Either way, I’d have no qualms about naming the dealer, saying I found the practice to be crap, and discussing it publicly to help keep potential future buyers informed. |

Folks, before this gets out of hand, I received a PM with the name of the seller.
IT IS NOT ANYONE WHO SELLS HERE. OP, I suggest you contact a Mod and run it by them first before posting the seller. Sorry it happened to you. I would just go to the nearest AD and have them order you a link (if you need it) I would rather see you give the AD the money and not the seller.

“Full kit” (but not really)
Probably your fault for not deducing the amount of links from the pictures! But in truth, this is deceptive behavior and the fact it happens just shows how these beloved grey are not your friends or have your well-being in their priorities. They just want to make cash by being middle men. Avoid them unless they are properly vetted. And even then, trust nothing, assume nothing, and demand images and written communications. |

Bracelet link scam by grey dealer
The original listing did intricate that the watch will fit wrists up to 7.5 inches. It did not reveal that it is one link short of the original count. So even with one link short, it will fit 7.5 inch wrist.
Although “scam” might be harsh description, but it’s not good business. I can’t name the seller Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Poor business etiquette at the least.
For me that would be enough reason to never buy there again

That is bad service. I bought a BLRO from Davidsw last year and have an 8” wrist. The watch barely fit with the extension out. One phone call and I had an extra link overnighted to me free of charge.

I think the dealer deserves recognition, especially if they attempted to represent the watch as being in new or like new condition.
If they are removing a link, they should be making the number of links included extremely prominent in the listing IMO. |

Not sure who the dealer is but I had this conversation with Bobs prior to a purchase and was able to negotiate them including the complete bracelet with all links as part of the purchase. This is the only place I've experienced this and I'm thankful I happen to ask in advanced.

I would always tell my customer how many links come with the watch... They are just trying to make some extra money on the side depending on the watch links aren't cheap at all.
