Between these two options, which will you go for ?

Grey Daytona SS Panda

VC Overseas Chrono SS (Black dial)

1) Go grey with daytona

2) Go with VC from AD, estimated waiting 2-3 months after making payment. Still has some spare change (vs getting grey daytona)

Let's put it this way -- If you're seriously considering the white Daytona at current gray prices, the VC won't satisfy you.

Personal taste, I would go for the VC, not a Daytona fan.

Although I would personally go with the VC, I think this may be very true!

what really entice me is the overall package of the VC....

One watch, 3 quality straps provided.
For all kinds of occasions.

Clean yet highly legible.
For the price, is it quite unbeatable ?

Yes, 100%...but how big is your wrist ? A Daytona will fit inside of it.

I had a SS black dial Daytona on wrist yesterday and it was difficult to read.
The VC appears more legible indeed.

With my money? So far neither. If I had to, I'd get the Daytona. Not a big Overseas fan and the 04:30 date kills the current generation chrono for me.

+1 I think there’s wisdom in this post...the Daytona is a unique itch that is not easily scratched by other watches. That being said, for my tastes, I would go for the VC given the scenario you pose. Best wishes

I don't like the VC chrono much (i have a blue 3 hander coming around June), not in black for sure, but I wouldn't pay for the daytona grey prices. I did it with couple of my watches and was never able to enjoy and sold most.
My vote is with VC (but I'd probably try to get a blue one)

Neither. The Daytona-C SS is significantly overpriced and the VC will take a huge dive once owned unless a significant discount is had at purchase. The blue dial VC is another story at retail.

The VC is another level. Have you tried it on?

thanks guys for the inputs so far.

i am aware that most brands and models certainly will take dive after the initial purchase.
but man, this particular watch (at least in my perspective) is out of this world.
definitely a keeper.

my wrist is at 6.5" thereabout. AP RO 41mm is already taking a big presence on my wrist.
pretty sure this 42.5mm would be massive too, considering the lug to lug of the case and bracelet.

but i intend to wear it on rubber or leather straps. hence, i guess it should be manageable as it tapers down?

From my experience, putting an overseas on a rubber strap does not drastically reduce its footprint on your wrist. If it will be too large on the bracelet, it will likely be too large on the rubber strap.

For reasons of fitment, I say go with the Daytona.

Same here, black dial is challenging to read. My white dial is INCREDIBLE and easy to read.

To answer OP, I'd flip a coin as both are 'winners'.

Just comes down to preference. My personal preference is the VC hands down like not even in the same ballpark but that's just me.

VC. No hesitation. It’s a different calibre of watch.

May want to try on the VC with your size wrist. I had the VC dual time and it wore better on the bracelet. The rubber strap will flare out more at the lugs than metal braclelet.

VC but it wil wear quite large so unless you’re dead set on a chrono you may want to consider the 4500v three hander.

If the VC fits you'll love it. I'm not a big chrono fan and never owned one however I own the 4500V amongst my Rolexs' which I love and don't look at it like a competition but the VCs are fabulous.

You still can order or get the blue VC chrono right now.. 3 hander blue already stop taking order by VC.

I highly recommend you head down to the VC boutiques at Ion or MBS and try one on. As someone who owns the Overseas three hander and Dual Time, diameter only tells a quarter of the story. The Overseas inherently wears large because of how the lugs flare out, and the thickness of the chrono exacerbates it.
