Day-Date II?

How many here have seen the Day-Date II in the flesh and/or tried it on?

What do you guys think?

Personally, I like it!

I know what Dan is talking about, as I tried on the exact same watch :)
Yes, it is BIG, and HEAVY. However, it is VERY stunning to look at in person. Also VERY pricey as well.

I saw it this weekend; and I compared it to the DDI. It does seem really large. I usually wear a DJ so this aspect really stood out. I have to say that it didn't seem like a Rolex. I guess it takes time to enter my "Rolex Lexicon." The bracelet was smaller than the DD. I had trouble getting it over my wrist. As you can tell I prefer the DDI. The DDII seemed gaudy and lacking in the delicate good looks of the DDI.

I tried on a YG DDII w/ white roman dial. I thought it was very nice and liked it a lot. However, not sure it would be my first choice in its price range.

Tried on the Plat DD II (it felt heftier than my DSSD!!!)

If I hit the lotto Id buy one!

I think the smooth bezel looks a little strange, just out of proportion.

Unless I hit the lotto I do not see myself getting one soon, just many others Id rather in that price range...

I agree with you all. It's a BIG watch and it's pretty heavy, but it felt good on my wrist. The case was also pretty big compared to the width of the bracelet.

It might have also be a bit too gaudy-looking at first, maybe partially due to the massive fluted bezel. The domed bezel might be a bit more low-key.

I tried on the WG one, but the YG one with the wavy black dial definitely looked very nice!

I personally think it is another Rolex miss. It is disproportionate looking with that fat bezel and overlarge case. It seems to trade the elegance of the original DD for a more gaudy "hey look at me!" appearance.

got one today and love it. In regards to the "hey look at me" comment from the previous post. I think any regular person looks at a solid gold Rolex as a Hey look at me watch. It sure is big. If you buy it from a gray dealer its only a few grand more then a new Day Date. Today I saw a NOS 04 Day date for 16,500 and a 90 something for 11,500. I paid 19,600 for a brand new DD II with all stickers on.

I agree with Dan, it is heavy! I tried one on and like the size but seems to be too much bezel and too little dial...looks wierd or at least out of proportion. Besides, I can't get it with an Oyster bracelet...damn it!

Tried on a Platinum and RoseGold, both not my cup of tea, the bezel is too disproportionately large and I really don't like the domed bezel of the Platinum.

Can't find a picture of it but the baguette diamond bezel for it shown at Basel makes it look acceptable enough, though, without being too flashy.

I did try one on a couple months ago. To my surprise it wasn't as big and heavy as I thought it was going to be. Being used to the 36mm DD I could get used to the DDll with no problem. I did like it.

It's got a great presence to it, a very impressive watch. Tried on the YG version, bit too big for myself, but I do like it as a watch. I think the platinum is an absolute stunner though!
