New Rolex Explorer ll -226570
Has anyone got one yet in white and what are your thoughts. I have not seen any Incoming threads so are they available
Has anyone actually got one and compared it to the Last model. Does it wear any different. With the bracelet being bigger and the lugs smaller I am thinking of going to a local AD and seeing if they can get me one, however I also think they could be hard to get as I think the explorer is the new favourite in the current climate as the submariners and GMTs seem to be impossible to get without history. Also the price seems to have gone up alot on the second hand market. So has the likeablity of this model changed |

I’ve been to two ad’s recently, neither of which has had one come through the door yet. The manager of one did say demand for the new one hasn’t been as high as they expected though so you may not have to wait too long. Fingers crossed

I think the changes were really good, on Polar, much less so on the previois phantom hand black dial one which was more like the 1655 original. (but only if you are on the WIS spectrum perhaps)
There is a post on here, can't find it now, but from UK guy who got the Whatsapp message about one ready for him. As for me the POS at WOS told me is was an "allocation piece based on previous spend history etc..... blah...." ....would love to think they are out there for mere mortals |

I would not pass up a black dial Exp II. I like the modest changes.

I really like the new explorer 2 black dial, I had the previous version with white dial.

I was picking up a watch this past weekend and inquired about a 'new' Oyster BLNR. My AD said they were expecting the 2021 models to start coming in early to mid June. Of course as luck would have it I met one of my new neighbors yesterday and he was wearing a (previous version) white dial Explorer 2... I'd be lying if I said I didn't for a split second consider texting my AD and asking for one of those as well!

I have been on the waitlist for two years for a polar Explorer 2 and my AD just hasn’t received one. Was offered the black dial twice and regret not taking one, but I ended up buying several hard to get Rolex models and can’t buy them all.
My AD said he doesn’t expect the new Explorer 2 to be available for several months and promised me I’m next on the list. Good luck on your search. |

Definitely an improvement on the old one (I handled the new line up at Rolex event). I am in love with the new Exp2 black dial (something I couldn't say about the previous one.)
I posted some pics and videos of the new line up a week or two ago.

Very though?? Looks exactly the same I would say. Which isn't a bad thing really, the watch was pretty close to perfect before. The only real difference visually that stands out if you can say that, is the tiny bitty crown at six. Agree. |

You can make arguments for both sides "It looks exactly the same" and "It's totally different!" From a foot away even Rolex aficionados wont be able to tell the difference ("yooo nice AR coating on your new Explorer!"), but yes it has some minor changes. The fact that you have to heavily research these things and many folks are still puzzled as to what these "changes" are or where to look for them says a lot. |

Should everyone with a trf account qualify as a rolex aficionado? 1 foot away? |

Yep 1 foot away looks exactly the same unless your a pro and look for those things, these little differences that are hart to see. I'm not sure how that comment offends you.

There are significant changes here, that haven’t been mentioned. The most significant for me is the change to the handset and indicies. Where they were previously white-gold with gloss/enamelled coating - the hands on the latest revision are coated with a new matt treatment. However, they haven’t extended this to the orange GMT hand, which retains the gloss look.
This is not only a big change to the feel of the face when viewed closely - I feel it’s lost a luxury element with this change - but the inconsistency drives me mad! It’s almost as if they’d made lots of gloss orange hands, and are still using them. The combination on this model makes it feel a bit “parts bin” and I’m very glad I have the previous reference. Who knows though - perhaps in a year or two they will have sold-through enough inventory on those hands, and have a silent update, with all subsequent watches having the GMT hand in matt as well? Could we be looking at a rare “transitional model” that could fetch preem eddies in future? |

Well went to the AD to put my name down for a Explorer ll -226570.
AD remembered me from buying a Tudor 925 a few weeks ago he said that he had got an order in which contained the old polar explorer (NOS) and if I was interested I could purchase it. He then left to get the watch for me to look at.. it took him ages When he got back he said unfortunately the shipment Did not have the Old Polar explorer.. He had received the new one..... how lucky am I And as I was the first to ask it was mine if I wanted it Looked at it ..its superb .. put deposit down and will be picking up tomorrow night when I will take pics and start my first Rolex Incoming thread. Well happy went to AD asked for watch and able to buy the new release in 10 minutes ....what shortage |

My only complaint with the black dial, is that they eliminated the ghost hands. That was my favorite part of the watch

Put my name down, told them I'm in no rush (Just got BLRO in March). Looks like they fixed the bracelet taper which was my biggest complaint on the old one.
