Phil Mickelson

It’s nice to see Phil finally wearing a sports watch and moving away from the dress watch while killing it on the course.

Saw that pic as well. I really like that watch just out of my league.

He’s been wearing the RG on oysterflex for a couple of years. But agree, good to see it.

What's he wearing today? Looks like a vintage or dress watch on leather.

I think it’s a Cellini Danaos. I believe he wears that one pretty regularly.

The YM 40 RG is an awesome piece. Surprised it doesn't get all the HYPE as other SS models

Phil has always worn the Cellini on the course but always switches to a larger model post round.

I don't know about always but I have noticed this as well recently. Wears the YM to the course and plays with the Cellini. Will be watching Round 4 all afternoon!

Rolex sponsors those guys. Brooks and Phil are required to wear them in tournaments. All part of Rolex’s brilliant marketing.

Saw that too.

So with their swing speed so high compare to us, we won’t need to worry about damaging our watches right?

I was practicing with my Rootbeer yesterday too.

I’m actually curious about that. I always assumed the watches worn on the course are sponsor watches. Either loaned or player owned, but player received for free or heavily discounted. So if it was damaged, who cares, it’ll be taken care of by the sponsor.

I’ve never golfed with my GMT on, just in case. I assume it would probably be okay but why risk it.

Phil is one of the few golfers that wears a watch while playing. Brooks does not.

You’ll also see Tiger, Rickie, Jordan and Justin Thomas wearing a Rolex in post round interviews.

and many more. The caddies are sporting some nice wrist watches as well. Will be fun watching round 4 this afternoon. I'm nursing a sore back so I'll be couch surfing, resting up for tomorrow's round!

I’m the same way. Wear it afterward. No need to risk it.

My Rolex isn't too fragile to withstand my golf swing but the obverse is true.

I put whatever I'm wearing in the bag. I am not in the PGA this year.

I Can't ever remember him wearing the Cellini post round. This has been his routine for almost 3 decades.

Free for sure. Rolex has a roster of talent, as does AP and RM. i imagine they get a few pieces a year. Bubba has been wearing the same RM55? For ages. IMO, it’s super uncomfortable playing with a watch on. Maybe on a rubber strap if it’s lightweight but i don’t own anything like that.

Phil had a Cellini on his wrist when he won his first PGA event as an amateur college kid 30 years ago and has never played without a Cellini on his wrist since.
