What would you do? Trade two SS Daytonas for one SS Royal Oak Plus Cash?

Greetings! So I would be trading in a 2011 SS Daytona White Dial Random Serial APH Super Luminova and a 2013 SS Daytona Black Dial Random Serial Non-APH Chromalight for an unworn/stickered SS 15500ST Grey/Ruthenium dial plus some cash on top. They are all full sets.

What would you do?

Of note, the dealer would be adding about 3.7k on top.

it really depends on your motivation. If you're asking from a future value standpoint then my answer is no.

If you simply have no love left for your daytonas and desperately want to own the royal oak, then yes. why not!?

Everyone around here gets all worked up and pissy about "appreciation" talk, but when it comes down to making a trade, it's usually the first factor people consider.

All that said, I don't know the exact values of your daytonas, but IMO if the money is right, you don't wear/want your daytonas and you want the RO, make the move!

I will say this though, just as I say to anyone contemplating a trade, if you have an opportunity to own all watches simultaneously, even with the understanding it's temporary I would do so. You might seriously regret it, but owning them at the same time will really help you decide which is more important to you. In this case, since you have two daytonas I'd at least try to keep one. Perhaps the APH dial!?

As much as I admire AP for decades, I never 'turned the corner' to being a customer. Love Rolex, Tudor, Panerai, Omega, Cartier, Tag Heuer Monaco... Imho a very strong no on that trade.

Have you checked out the more modern, incredible world-record movement too, Bvlgari Octo FS? I needed higher WP of their 100m model. Seriously, check it out, and how the butterfly clasp goes into the bracelet... I fell in love instantly with the Octo FS than the now old-ish design still sold by AP. See them both in person....... compare.

Unless I had an extra set of black/white ceramic steel Daytonas sitting in my back pocket, I would never make this trade.

Current market prices aside, let's assume you paid retail for the Daytonas, at about $10-12k each and you are now trading them for a watch that retails for about $23k, plus some cash. So, on that basis, pretty even deal.

I'm not a huge Daytona fan, and I'd personally rather have the rarer, more special AP (provided I still had a steel Rolex/Omega/IWC for daily use).

But no I wouldn't do that trade.

No.

I’d rather play the AP game and get at list.

AP is nice and trendy, but is worth one Daytona not two.
