And my new favourite Rolex is

In fact a Tudor

I appreciate this may be controversial but having owned this watch for a couple of weeks now I’m thinking what more could I actually need?

Add in the Rolex supply/demand issues and it’s a no brainier.

Don’t get me wrong. Love my Rolex. My grail is a RG DD. Probably 36mm with the brown ombré dial. And I will have one one day.

But this one ticks all the boxes and more.

Have to say, I picked up the Harrods edition a week or two ago and it’s great - everything that I need for a sporty/dive type watch. There are still some special Rolexes out there and in my collection, but I’m pleasantly surprised by Tudor.

I’m with you Scott.

I have a couple of Tudors now, a Harrods BB & a Heritage Chrono (Monaco dial) and I absolutely love & enjoy wearing them equally as much as any of my other watches.

I think the quality for the money is phenomenal really & hard to beat.

Enjoy

Very good watch, but to be great:
- grow to 41mm
- faux rivet delete
- snowflake delete

Oh ... that would be awesome!

Until I owned it I’d have agreed with all of those points.

However, 39mm works fine for me.

On the wrist you don’t even notice the faux rivets at all.

And the snowflake is actually what makes the watch a Tudor, what gives it it’s individuality and is actually one of my favourite design features.

Agreed on adjustability. It’s 75% as adjustable as it should be. I’m fortunate that I got a great fit however.

A Long story short ...

I gave my blue BB58 to my son as a graduation present with the promise I would get his dream watch when available at the ARD and purchased the black BB58 on leather for myself on the spot when the local AD put it on display.

Then a week or so later got call from my local Rolex dealer to pick up the new Explorer 1 they just received and was allocated to me for my son's graduation present for his Master of Engineering.

He returned the Blue BB58 to me (BTW he has a narrow wrist the and the new Explorer is a perfect fit and is spectacular in person) so I ended up with the Blue and Black bb 58's.

Unfortunately my wife insists I have to offset the cost with a sale of on of the BB58's I need to shift one of them.

I am currently paralysed with indecision between the two watches. I was certain I was going to sell the blue until I put it back on my wrist then the Black until I wore it again.

Mmmmmm......Maybe my older Seamaster Planet Ocean has to go.

The BB58 is a watch that just works like the older no date sub does. The dimensions are perfect for every wrist, the Black is a strap harlot.... Nato? Leather? Bracelet? It's like a sailor in a red light district.

Watch-winders? No need simply wind it and set the time AND... you can wear it without fear of a mugging as it is so discrete.

I'm sure if Rolex released a smaller Submariner in 39mm with no date to clutter the face they would have a classic on their hands I would sell the children for one.. until then Tudor BB58 will remain a watch that takes me back to my
60's childhood my first introduction to fine watches by my uncle who owned the Tudor Submariner.

Bye Bye Seamaster.....

The BB58 is a spectacular watch. When I picked up the black, I didn’t realize how much I’d fall in love with it. I then picked up the blue and it’s become my daily wear. Checks all the boxes. At 39mm, I thought it would be small on my wrist but yet it looks perfect!

It’s a great watch for sure! Have snuck some wrist time here and there when the wife isn’t wearing hers mostly because I am contemplating getting the blue one

I completely agree. I managed to pick the same up about 6 weeks ago and absolute love it!

I have both black and blue BB58s and actually prefer them to newer Subs. Don't get me wrong, I still love Rolex, and still have my Explorer, but the Tudors don't give much away to Rolex IMO.

Agree. Have had mine since fall of 2019. It wears great, has an easy read dial for my aging eyes, and gets more wrist time than my sub.

Nice watch! Best part, it's yours, now. It's good to be satisfied. The Rolex Wait is just frustrating.
