Any Rolex purchases at AD in far flung "exotic" locales?
So Rolex has alotta of authorized dealers around the world. Some of them happen to be located in parts of the world not commonly discussed on TRF..and are relatively off the beaten path, isolated or just far for most members who frequent the forums..
So, has anyone purchased a Rolex, past or present in places like Yemen (3 AD) Nepal Fiji Mongolia Myanamar Ivory Coast Guam Grand Prairie Canada....Way North. Rural Montana... Etc...etc. |

Guam? That’s not as exotic as it may seem. I understand Japanese tourists love to buy luxury goods there.

All those places have millionaires and very well off ppl in them that can easily afford Rolex/AP/Patek.
Even places like Nepal, Myanmar, Mongolia - some very very very rich ppl there. The stock there ain't going to be anymore better than anywhere else in the world. Local flippers galore and many get sent to major dealers in HK etc... |

Before the Nairobi AD got closed one could get very very lucky there. While there are many well-off people outside mainstream markets as some poster said, the fact still remains that it would still be much better than, for example, London or Paris or New York.

I was in Cairo back in March and they had a ton of PM references including gem set. Much better PM selection than anywhere else I’ve been in the world (70+ countries).
As mentioned above, despite these places listed in the OP not being commonly thought of, there is significant wealth in certain parts. |

It’d be nice to travel to some of these places some day. If serendipity strikes it would be a huge bonus

The AD had a number of Rolex's set aside for a wealthy Japanese client of theirs but the client had to cancel his trip and they were sitting on a number of watches they wanted to sell. Right place, right time for my friend. No purchase history but of course things were different back then and not as insane as they are today. He later sold the Daytona and regrets it to this day. |

I’m currently in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Visited their Rolex Boutique, but like everywhere else, not much in the way of sports models. They did have new TT Explorer 36mm and TT Sea Dweller.

The “far out” ones don’t surprise me, as they’d seem to fall into the “there’s a reason” category. Rural Montana, for example (major cattle ranchers, ski resorts, etc). It’s the dealerships in places experiencing significant political and economic instability that surprise me more (Yemen, Libya, for example).
It is interesting to see where different brands establish an AD presence. In South America, for example, there’s a Patek dealer in Venezuela, but not a single one in all of Brazil or Argentina. |

My Inlaws bought a pair of Datejusts while on vacation in Curacao with their two young daughters in 1977.

No exotic locales but would love to do so. If I am lucky enough to go to an exotic destination for a family vacation, I will happily spend 15 minutes to pick up any Rolex from their dealer (Cellini or otherwise) then return to my resort for pina coladas. Would be one heck of a momento from a trip.

The AD is inside the Four Seasons called Felopateer Palace. Don’t bother with the other two locations in Cairo. The Four Seasons location has the biggest allocation and selection.

Reminds me of a mining town mayor who many years ago encouraged urban women to move to his town in order to find a husband because ‘the odds were good’. Only to be told the odds are good because the goods are odd! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

That Four Seasons is absolutely gorgeous, isnt it? At least the outside facade, I've never actually been inside it
