Mayors jewelers tampa

Stopped by Mayors in Tampa today.

No surprise that their Rolex cases were empty save two Ladies Datejust’s. Spoke with the two Rolex associates about the lack of inventory (much like the housing market). They said they have no indications of any pending shipments and were willing to add me to their waitlist. They said expect a two year wait for a GMT or Daytona in stainless, I respectfully declined.

They did remark about how so many Rolex’s are being flipped over to the Grey Market for a quick buck. They are tracking all the business going to them - really nothing new here.

Clearly, not a shocking post just more of the same old global shortage of Rolex’s in authorized dealerships.

The question now is what will be in this huge new beautiful Rolex store/boutique. Will it be considered a boutique since it has its own entrance even though it’s attached to the main store?

Yes, it needs to have its own entrance is what I heard to then be a boutique. Being connected is fine. Also means more inventory.

Same business, no one knows how the gray market gets all these Rolex, yet all BNIB Rolex at the gray came from the AD. Funny how that works.

They were petty bare when I was at the Tampa location to pick up my new Sub date 2 months back. Nick is a great guy to deal with.

Nice, who did you speak to? I visit this store often. One of the SA was telling me same on Grey flippers but we always knew that.

Afraid today mainly because Rolex are no longer watches, just now little more than $$$£££€€€€ objects, most end up in the grey market where most all models are for sale.

Sometimes true Padi, and we know the Chicago dealer scam (it's Chicago, what did anyone really expect from such a major corrupt city?)... yet Mayors, and Nick in particular, seems to be doing his best to offer pieces to true enthusiasts.

Yep, I was in there about a month ago. It was probably the same 2 Ladies Datejust's that I saw. Crazy, all that money invested to make that Rolex boutique section and have completely empty display cases.

I don't think they are tracking watches that are being flipped. There's as much flipping as there is collecting. Good luck tracking it.

Yeah, that's the polite way of telling you to buzz off.
They likely get shipments every week, as with most ADs.

Sorry to strike a nerve. But anytime there's anything remotely related to value, I see the same exact comment from him.

It’s Mayors…..aka WOS. Need a good, blended margin purchase history as well, so he can plead the case to his Store Director to get on the VP of Retail list and the watch released.

I was there today! My husband (not a watch guy) often thinks that I make this stuff up. We walked in and there was a total of ONE watch in the cases. 36mm day date.

Why you need two armed security guards and a salesperson (that was very friendly) to stand around all day for one watch is something I cant understand.

Anyway, the sales guy and I chatted for a bit. We joked about the waiting lists nonsense and he complimented my watch (AP Offshore). After that, we walked around the mall for a bit. I was a little disappointed that the Omega shop is becoming a Ferrari store. Does anyone know if they moved or just closed up the boutique entirely?

The Aventura mall was a very different place the last time I went there (2 years ago).

So true. I was strongly encouraged to buy some jewelry for the Mrs. in order to have a chance to buy 126715. I'd rather buy a lady DJ at least that holds value. (Un)fortunately my wife hates to wear watches. Apparently past history with DD and few SS sports watches don't mean much these days.

I was there about two months ago. Think there was one TT ladies 36 mm DJ. I was told by the SA he couldn’t even order a 41mm DJ. Pretty lame.

If that history is all this year, it should surely count?
Over many years it just gets diluted
