Watch shopping in Portland Oregon
Aside from the Rolex ADs, are there any other shops in Portland that worth a visit?

I think Watchworks may have opened back up by appointment only. Their store was broken into during the first wave of riots and I believe they relocated to the east side of town. The Ben Bridge locations are kind of meh. Packouz has always been great to me but like any other Rolex AD they have slim pickins.
Otherwise my favorite Omega AD Smith and Bevill usually has a good selection of popular Omegas in stock. |

Portland is probably one of the worst major cities to shop for watches now.
We lost Shreve & Co a while back which took brands like Patek, IWC, and Panerai. Watch works sold Omega, Breitling, Longines, Hamilton, and others as well as a solid preowned section. And of course there’s no stock in any of the Rolex ADs. Maybe you can browse some TAGs or Cartiers at Ben Bridge downtown. |

Well...last year's protests/riots pretty much made Portland a "no-go zone" day or night. Just too unpredictable and violent. Add to that many of the businesses and most of the famous food trucks shut down and/or left the city and it really wasn't worth going to anyway.
This year some businesses are re-opening, but most of the food trucks are still gone and the sprawling Saturday Market that spilled out of the waterfront park through central downtown is practically non-existent. During the day things seem to be OK, but there's not much to do. I would still consider after dark/late night a no-go, especially since their entire 40 person "quick reaction force" aka "riot squad" just resigned last week due to conflicts with city leadership... Maybe not "scary", but Portland definitely has issues right now. Unsafe is probably a better description. Personally, I would not wear a Rolex day or night in Portland. G-Shock territory for sure. I took my wife and kids there for a 4 day week-end 4 years ago and we had a blast. Now, I avoid it like the plague. There simply aren't any guarantees for personal safety there anymore and for me, that's a show stopper. |

Unsafe my arse.
I've been downtown, the waterfront along SW Nailto, past (gasp) homeless camps, wearing ( gasp) Rolex.Been eating out and strolling around well past sunset.- the food trucks aren't there because they were booted to make way for the Ritz Carlton development. A lot of bars and restaurants downtown, round the Pearl, NW 23rd are open and doing OK It's scary if you're a scared type of person. Like any other city, you keep your wits about you and you'll be fine. But yeah, no good watch shopping options anymore....

Portland and Seattle both are big with Ben Bridge with each having one or two independents as well. Not sure how BB allocates watches but I have never had any luck with them. They always "encourage" me to buy something else to get what I want. I refuse to play that game.

Finally made a trip to portland. It was quiet on Sunday and many shops are closed for good in downtown. Pioneer place is open but only a few luxury shops are still in business. Definitely a huge contrast from 3 years ago..

Watch wise, Packouz is open, but appointment only, Shrieve is now a CVS pharmacy... Ben Bridge is still open in Washington Square if you're after a Tudor or Breitling... Slim pickings....

I used to live in Olympia, WA, and made the trip down to Portland a few times. I went back to see my parents in WA, and had to drive through Portland....what a dump it is now. Every bridge and over pass had homeless encampments. I would spend my time and money elsewhere........
