New Rolex Pepsi with 3x Quality Issues

Is it me or has Rolex quality control taken a dump?

I recently got a DJ41 with a scratch on the dial
and now this Pepsi with 3x issues (pictures below)
- hair in datewindow
- mark on top of 3 on DW
- red mark on 7 lume

Is it better to go directly to RSC or make AD feel bad and handle issue?

Go and see the AD, ask them to sort the issues out.

Rolex makes over 850,000 watches each year, there’s bound to be the odd gremlin now and again, don’t fret it just get the AD to sort it.

Alert the AD immediately. Let them make it good.
Wow, awful.

Sorry to hear you have these quality problems. Maybe Rolex is trying to pump these out way too fast to meet demand and/or the pandemic unsettled their production flow. Perhaps approach your AD to get those items fixed. Good luck.

In the first instance, take it back to the AD you purchased it from and see what they say.

If you don’t get the resolution you want from them take it up directly with RSC.

Some people on the forum will say these are non issues, but personally I wouldn’t be happy with those items highlighted in your pictures.

Good luck getting this sorted

Well, if your AD is savvy, s/he will:

1. Offer to replace the watch.
2. Give you the next Pepsi received.
3. Have yours serviced.
4. Sell pre-owned at 2x markup.

I think that you've got a legit gripe, but I don't think going in and making the AD staff "feel bad" will help get you a good outcome.

Get them to to fix it and move on, it'll be made right.

I agree. For the price Rolex is now asking there shouldn’t be any issues such as you’ve experienced with this watch.

This will be non-issues for people!?!?

Last time I brought the DJ41 with that dial scratch, I sensed AD felt bad for experience and have since been offered a few hard to get pieces

I understand that you’re not happy and in the grand scheme of things it shouldn’t have happened but it has, it’s not a major issue, it just needs to be sorted by Rolex at the service centre.

Please remember that this is a watch, nothing more just a watch, the watch is covered by a warranty and I am sure that your AD will do everything possible to get the errors rectified quickly.

Sorry that it has happened to you and I hope that you get it sorted.

I'm surprised these issues weren't seen when the AD examined the watch upon arrival or when you picked it up. These are definitely issues that the AD should be happy to handle. When you pay Rolex prices, you should get Rolex quality.

The AD was probably too busy making sure all the stickers were removed

This is a wristwatch made by humans. In any event, I don’t live life under a microscope. I wouldn’t be concerned by it frankly. Besides, It makes your BLRO unique. The next time you go to a nice restaurant try pulling out your microscope and examining your plate of food. You’ll be surprised what you’ll find. .

Easy for people like you (and me!) to say, who seem to share a philosophy that "the simpler, the better" (can't get hair in the date window of a watch without a date)!

I hear you! No dates for me except my BLRO. But I’ll bet if we put all our watches under a microscope there’s no telling how many imperfections we’d find with every single watch be that Patek, AP, Rolex, or any other brand. Of course, the Grand Seiko fanboys will deny it.

Can only speak for myself…but I have never looked at any of my watches with a loupe and I’m betting that none of those are visible to the naked eye. OP, you will never be happy with a mass produced timepiece, ask for a refund and move on.

Good advice. Maybe go independent handmade with Roger Smith or Philippe Dufour

If I could see a defect or variation with my naked eye and it bothered me, I'd probably send it off for service and correction. I'm not sure if I'd get all worked up about it. It's a mechanical device built buy humans. Expecting perfection invites disappointment. I'm glad I don't own a jeweler's loupe.
