Nearby Former AD with Deadstock - Experience?

There was a Rolex AD near my home for decades, but about six months later they are no longer an AD and took down the Rolex sign above their store and removed all Rolex from the showroom. I didn't realize this and when I asked what Rolex they had, the salesperson went back and brought out a case of about six, with five being brand new stock. Anyone know the rules for a store that used to be an AD with deadstock? Can they still sell with no warranty issues for the buyer? I would assume so. Can they negotiate on price?

This seems like a question only they can answer, did you ask them?

Not at the time which I should have. Planning to go back in tomorrow but wanted to get some expert opinion. Honestly at the time I was at the store for something completely unrelated, so I more just looked to see what they had on a whim. Then I started thinking about it a few days later...

Or ask Rolex USA? Since their answer will matter more, ultimately.

At termination of their account, the warranty cards should have been completed by the AD, giving them full warranty.

The stock will be theirs so they can discount it as much as they like, although they’re not likely to that unless they’re really undesirable models

I bought from local dealers that lost accounts before.

Back then:

They can discount if they wish

Warranty cards Weren’t as sophisticated
So not sure or would doubt they could process the steps today for modern warranty cards.

In other words:

My dealership just lost it's AD status - how can we price our remaining stock

Ha, trust me, that's not the case.

What would happen if, the last day they had the franchise, they scanned in every warranty card on remaining stock? Wouldn’t get full warranty, but better than nothing.

A couple DJ 36, a steel and gold Sub (I believe pre-2020), and honestly don't remember the other two but nothing that jumped out.

Any Dealer can negotiate on the price - it's always been that way.

I see you are from Ohio. Which AD lost their status?

I'm honestly surprised the former AD doesn't just list them on C24.

Technically, they are considered pre-owned now imo. Not really, but how they will be treated potentially with warranty. Conversely buy an out of production reference from a current AD BNIB and it still comes with 5 yr warranty and green tags. Was the jeweler an AD at time of sale is most important.

Sounds like the AD went grey immediately after losing status. Couldn’t the sell remaining stock for grey prices then?

For sure. Technically any AD can as well, but highly frowned upon by Rolex USA. I doubt an AD would maintain status very long if doing so. Rolex SA though, not against the practice. Historically this has been so that ADs in vacation type locales and/or unique currencies (especially prior to the EUR) could sell watches at "fair" market value and avoid the buyers coming in to arbitrage pricing. For the latter think of what happened with Brexit.

Sure. But it any were desirable to command above-MSRP, they’d probably be long gone. TT Sub a little curious in that regard, no?
