Code
Was recently having this discussion with some established AP clients and thought I’d ask here with a broader audience.
Are there a significant number of people who have a Code reference without any other APs in the collection? I love the case design of the code. But like many others I find the dial leaves more questions than answers lol. Pics appreciated! |

Yes. (But I also suspect 99% of them would buy the RO when offered)
Incidentally I find the time only Code to leave no questions or answers. Just blank. Hehehe. |

CODE has done really well in Asia. If you scroll through IG, tons of Japanese owners that only have 1-2 CODEs and nothing else (that they’re showing) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

If you like the Code, you should buy it and not look to see what other’s say. 3 years later and there are people that still malign the entire model family and have no real justification as to why other than because that’s what social media tells them to do.
I personally enjoy mine and think it fits nicely in many collections. This said, and being fully transparent, I wouldn’t have paid retail price if I wasn’t certain it would get me a Royal Oak. And I would not have bought it if I didn’t genuinely enjoy it.

The Code gives me more answers than questions. The code can be identified easily from far, and that is an excellent sign that no other watches design comes close to it! |

AFAIK......isn't Code PM only? Is there any hint of AP rendering it in ss? I'd reckon that would result in a surge in demand (also if a bracelet were offered)
It is a technically impressive watch. Aesthetics can always be tweaked and refined. |

To OP, I’d say 1-2 people for every 1,000 AP buyer to answer your question. Buy hey, Aquas we’re near universally poo pooed in the beginning. More hard to say, if the complex Codes were under 80k, (tourb, tourb Chrono) would these sell like crazy all of the sudden? I suspect they would. |

The haute complications do look quite nice and IMO it’s because they alter the focus away from the dial/hands. |

Only the grand complications are the Code are worth it IMO. Nuances of colors on the bland dials don't cut it from me, whether it's the plain jane or the chrono.

RO can be had with no Code. But that also means you buy other offerings.
Conversely, the Code has its appeal and I most likely will have one in the near future. The chrono flavours are quite pricey though. Does anyone know when they will update the faces again? Last time was for 2021, I believe. |

Lol, @vogelphoenix, now all the newbies know why they can't get SS RO. They all got sent to Taiwan.
I think Xerxes77 means new, new clients starting in 2021. |

I guess it’s hard to take RO out of the equation. The discussion I was having was along the lines of is the Code a watch to generate mass public interest or a watch to satiate the AP audience. Kind of like a corollary to what ALS did with the Odysseus. Something to slip on when the RO and ROC need a change.
In my naivety I seem to appreciate the code for the case and would be interested in picking one up with dial changes without the lure of a RO in the shadows. |

If hypothetically you could buy the code today at the price before the last three price increases, meaning $26k USD instead of $30k USD, that's quite the value proposition. I'd take that odd font and all over a Patek Calatrava or anything from ALS in the same price range. I might even be willing to take it over a SS RO at $22k. But at $30k...well, I probably take a FPJ. |

Yeah, the game is changing rapidly. Sometimes when I ask to add a model to the wishlist I wonder if they are going to bring up a CODE purchase, but it hasn't happened yet. I actually do like the ceramic chrono quite a bit.

Blue code in a few weeks, and was contemplating dark blue Kevlar for first strap But now I’ve seen your light blue, I’m thinking twice Do you have more pictures of it in that strap? |

Yes, this light blue strap is awesome. If I need it to be in formal occassion I could change it to the original dark blue leather strap, otherwise this light blue fabric strap is excellent for casual/fun wear. Please get it. As far as i know, i'm the only one in SG with this strap. Don't keep me lonely :) |

That blue is really quite striking -- congrats! The different colored Kevlar straps are really fantastic on the Codes (I posted photos of my olive green / gray Kevlar strap here: https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=793203)

I'd say go for it! The pink/white gold contrast is beautiful. The silver dial is so elegant. The code is such a beautiful watch, only problem is which colour to choose!
