Explorer II lookalikes?

Subs, DayDates and Daytonas all have apparent "copies" from other brands.

From fine pieces to cheapos.

Has anybody seen an Explorer II look alike?

I havent, and I think thats a good thing

This has got a whiff of Exp II about it, especially on the optional steel bracelet -

I just saw a shameless Steinhart polar EXP II copy with Tudor snowflake hands over on IG.

Yep I’ve got a tag aqua racer that’s pretty much the same apart from not being a gmt of course.

The reality is, everyone borrows in someway or another from each other. There is only so much that can be done with a watch, given we have had wrists watches for about 100 years. The constant pressure to make more $$$ means pressure to put out “new” products that are really not new (looking at you ceramic Daytona)

These aren't bad looking watches but I love the EXP II so much I wouldn't touch these even if I didn't have the money I would do whatever needs to be done to get one.

I've got the Seiko SUN025P1 and have had at least one person ask if it was an Explorer II! It really does look similar with the orange GMT hand at a brief glance from a distance.

Pagani does a better Explorer II than Rolex.

I own a Pagani pepsi style GMT as the watch I wear if I don't want to risk anything decent, and it's quite impressive. +10sec per day consistently and better made than any other sub £100 watch I've ever seen, let alone an automatic.

I wish they would steer away from the homages a little though.

I've been looking at an alternative to my own Ex II as an international beater.

I like the B&R but I hate the domed crystal. I like the GS as well but it's a bit more dressy than sport for me and for me I don't want to stand out when I travel. I do actually really like the Christopher Ward... I think it pulls off the Explorer II look better than the Explorer II lol. I just have a hard time getting over the brand text on the dial... I know I'm so vain lol. Guess that's why I own Rolex ;-)

Rolex has to be the most copied, hence the ongoing status
/prestige. Not surprised they only made minor tweaks to the Explorer II recently, why change such an iconic watch style!
