WRUW while you drink your espresso over ice?

This is the one of the few things I look forward to in my day…

That coffee is the perfect color! Except for espresso. For some reason when I drink espresso I only want it with lots of sugar but as black as the soul of Hades himself!

I would never put sugar in my coffee or expresso but that is a personal preference.

In regards to the color, a good espresso shot is dark with a lighter layer of crema on top. When you pour this over ice it naturally takes on a lighter overall color.

OP - nice shot!

Thanks for the insights. I need to get out and try more! When I lived in Germany my friends from Turkey and France made their coffee so dark and sweet that you could practically stand a spoon in it! LOL

I have two different sizes of Bialetti Moka Express espresso pots brought back from Italy but I haven't used them. I should get some tips from the experts here and expand my horizons. I do grind my own beans for my Ninja coffee maker, but that's about the extent of my coffee skills so far.

As you will hear here, the Crema is the important part of an espresso. You can also get really into timing after your grind/tamp, when the espresso hits the cup. On my machine, you have to find the right grind texture in order to get the best taste. It’s super nerdy, but coffee is one of the best things in life to me.

I use a Breville coffee maker and it’s better than my Jura of the past.

I like it that way too, but today was at 105 degree heat index and wanted a sweet treat over ice :)

Are you red solo cupping??? I had 2 shots of espresso poured over a tall glass of ice myself this afternoon. Really needed it!

Yes, the plastic cups are key with a few little kiddos when heading poolside for a few to watch them. They like to attack and try to get whatever I am drinking. Luckily it’s just coffee!

I see Starbucks has been featuring espresso over ice now… we were all ahead of the times!
