My first two-tone Rolex. Daytona content

Generally I don’t care for yellow gold or two tone watches. However I always thought this particular two tone Daytona with the black “Newman” dial was particularly handsome. I have to say the watch looks great on the arm.

Two of my favorite things Gibson and Rolex

I have this dial on a full YG 116508. I didn’t realize this dial was offered on TT

It wasn’t offered on TT only gold. Below is a reference guide once posted here on TRF.

Beautiful watch OP. Enjoy the heck out of it. TT Daytona’s are seriously under rated.

Just be careful about sending that watch to a Rolex Service Center if it ever needs a servicing. It may come back with a different dial or they may give you trouble with servicing.

The TT Daytona is seriously underrated. I fell in love with the 116523 (Same as JMBarrack in post #8's avatar). It's stunning in person and a real keeper.

Congrats and enjoy.

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. JMBarrack, I appreciate the heads up. However, it is my understanding that this is a two tone Daytona with the factory “Newman” dial, not a custom dial. I’m surprised to hear it was only offered in gold. I bought the watch from a large reputable dealer that sells a boat load of Rolexes and was told the watch had not been modified. Regardless, it’s a great watch. Next up, a Batman GMT.

Yeah the panda is very sweet. I like the TT with slate dial as well. All of my watches are white metals so it’s nice to change it up a bit. The TT Daytona’s are the only relative bargains left.

Right, I completely understand and I’m not calling into question at all the authenticity of the watch or dial. I guess it’s more of a heads up from the standpoint of sending it in to Rolex if it does ever need to be serviced what they could possibly tell you.

Anyway, enjoy the watch! Personally, that’s my favorite dial. The intense matte black of main dial is something you need to see to believe.

It looks gorgeous with this dial, hope it wasn’t after market dial.

First of all, congrats...a lovely watch.

I think what the above posters were trying to tell you, while the dial itself looks to be authentic, it was only offered on the full YG (see attachment above, which has been discussed several times here.) You do, however, see this configuration pop up from time to time--and it's spectacular!

As far as the person who sold it to you, sometimes semantics comes into play. Perhaps he doesn't consider putting an authentic dial on a watch a "modification," even if the dial is not an option for that particular model. Guess it kind of depends on your definition of the word.

Not a major point, but you may want to put a call in (or visit) a RSC and hear it from the horse's mouth, so to speak. Again, congrats on a real beauty.

Btw, I discussed recently with my AD about a TT Daytona.
We will see ;)

Again, thanks everyone for the nice comments

Watchwatcher, thank you for this and I know exactly what you mean.

I was under the impression this combination was an actual model as I had seen quite a few come up for sale in this configuration over the past few years. That this is not the case is a little disappointing but it won’t diminish my enjoyment of the watch.

I did look at the all gold version because in relative value is a bargain next to most stainless pieces and I love rhe “Newman” dial but at the end of the day I kinda like the two tone in this configuration best of all.

I think my next piece will be a GMT, I just haven’t decided on a batman or pepsi. Prices are crazy. I think I paid 7500 for my Sub at an AD in 2014

Again thanks for the feedback
