Master etched crown position
Hey folks,
I have had a few Rolex watches and I have never noticed that an etched crown is off-center like the one on my Explorer. I was wondering whether it is a sign of someone touching or manipulating the watch in a way or another. I don't know its history, but I took it to my watchmaker for some testing. It is water right, strong amplitude, etc... Can someone tell me if it looks like something is out of the ordinary? I can upload a photo for some reason so I am sharing a drive photo. Please if someone can help me upload it here so it will be more comfortable to view it’d be nice. Thanks! https://drive.google.com/file/d/1eDA...w?usp=drivesdk |

The etched crown in the crystal isn’t always on the exact 6 position. Doesn’t matter

The etched crown is somewhere on the dial. It's usually down around the six zone. None of mine have it in exactly the same place.

Can’t tell without a photo exactly but usually this type of thing is normal but if you think that’s an issue, check your crown, if the Rolex coronet isn’t lined up at twelve, that’s a huge problem. Then when you get those two things resolved, get the loop and check your rehaut, the tiny Rolex crown should be dead center at twelve, you’re not done yet, the tiny crown between Swiss Made should be directly centered under the six o’clock marker.
But it’s not over yet, your bezel’s triangle should be exactly lined up with the twelve o’clock marker which should be lined up with the third and center finger of the coronet on the dial. Although, lucky for you there’s no bezel. In summary, Rolex loves to put crowns on its watches. Good luck with all that or just like enjoy it and see if it keeps accurate time, uh oh, another can of worms….is it a 32xx series |

Thanks guys,
Just to be clear, I don’t care that it is not aligned… I just want to know if it is coming aligned from factory and this it is an indication that someone serviced/did something with the watch. Thanks! |

Typically the crystal is not removed or altered for minor work on the movement.
