15450ST vs 7118/1A
Hi everyone,
Thinking about my next purchase, I am looking more and more at the 2 HH sport icons in their small version. (Small Wrist) I am talking about the 7118/1A from Patek and the 15450ST from Audemars. Regarding both watches, I would go for the dark grey or white dial. The RO was my first choice in the beginning, loved the straight lines everywhere on the case and the texture on the dial but time passing by, I find myself more and more attracted to the round curves of the Nautilius and their amazing dials. On the other hand, I feel like caliber 3120 from AP talks to me a bit more than the 324SC on the technical side (hacking second, instant date change, lower frequency) even though I find it amazing how the Patek caliber occupies all the room inside the Nautilius case. Thickness is extremely important to me with these watches and I must say I was amazed by the 7118 proportions on this side (8.6mm vs 9.8) Owning both is not an option at the time but will eventually be the long term solution... Does anyone, owning both pieces, feel like describing his experience about these two beautiful timepieces ? Thanks in advance and HAGWEE

15450ST is a unisex watch, 7118 is a female watch. Just to be clear.

Hi,
Hmm, advertised this way yes but it feels perfectly fine on a male wrist.

Agree. Just because something is advertised in a certain way, doesn’t mean it is an absolute rule. If it looks good on your wrist, your gender shouldn’t matter. Personally prefer the 15450 for what it’s worth. More of a classic in my mind. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Ref 56175. 33mm, quartz, incredibly thin.
I wouldn't wear it with a t shirt fully exposed, but peeking out from beneath a cuff it looks fine in my eyes. It's a piece of man jewelery at the end of the day, so wear what you like. Sent from my SM-G780G using Tapatalk

i would go with the 15450, the 7118 could very well be worn by guys but my problem with it is it deviates from the male version of the nautilus in shape/bracelet. if it was just a smaller 5711 it would be a completely different story but the bracelet just throws me off

I think that the 15450 is a better watch than the 7118. If you really want a nautilus with smaller diameter perhaps consider the 3800?

i think 3800 prices have gone a bit crazy but i agree. if one wants a smaller nautilus 3800 is the way to go as it wears much smaller than a 5711

I don't think there's a problem using the 7118/1A as a unisex watch, but unlike the 15450 it's not "just" a shrunken version of its big brother (5711/15500), but has a number of changes that one could say make it more feminine - i.e., hands, thinner bezel and dial pattern, as well as subtle changes to overall proportion.

Yep, agree. But…that’s purely about personal taste. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Price appart, I tried one and it felt smaller than the 7118, it is also extremely thin and did not felt right on my wrist. Another thing that would bother is not being able to look at the movement :(

I am myself waiting on a 15450.. what an incredible watch ! call me crazy but I like the proportions even more than those of the 'jumbo' model. the fact that it does not have the ultra thin movement gives it a nice presence on the wrist.
Look at that bezel ! it feels like its as thick as the watch case itself lol. I dont know why but I really like that. |

I have tried both but never on the same day unfortunately. 7118 is the one that had the biggest impact but I am not convinced by the 324SC so far. Appart from looking beautiful, this movement feels a little bit outdated. On the other hand, last time I tried a 15450, it was just after trying a 15202... Not the best mindset to appreciate the 15450 qualities.

Size varies for different people. But everytime I look at 7118, the wavy lines on the dial feels more feminine to me whereas 15450 feels more unisex and right.
I go 15450. |
