I seriously think the OP is my favorite line of Rolex.

Yes, love the sub, daytona, datejust, etc, but I'm more of a minimalist. No date, clean bezel, perfect size, I'm your typical simple man.

Great watch and wears great, I know because I’m wearing my Explorer 214270 now which is the same case and bracelet.

OP’s are easy to wear and near perfect daily wear watches, especially after Rolex released the colorful dials. They were never on my radar before but now I am all for it.

They are just a classic simple looking elegant watch that can be worn in almost any situation. It was the first Rolex I ever purchased 30 years ago and I still have it now.

The OP is just so much “more” now that they have interesting colors. That said: the white dial from 2018 absolutely kills it. I wear the 34mm. If I had extra money I’d buy a 39 in white and just sit on it for the next decade or so.

I’ve noticed more and more big name celebrities wearing them as well. The added colors are a stroke of genius by Rolex

I agree with you too.
When it boils down to it, for me a daydate and datejust display unnecessary information. They look cool, but totally unnecessary.
Since I sign crap all day long, I'm never wondering what the date is. And I certainly am never wondering what DAY it is.
Plus I like the overall symmetry of an OP or a no date sub. My next watch may be an explorer.

Couldn’t agree more … which is why I got a no date sub and store my Pepsi gmt II (too fussy, asymmetric, too shiny)

Now if they just made ceramic bezel matte instead of shiny - like the pelagos.

I tried the 41 and found it too big for me. Your 39 looks perfect and I find the indices of the 39 nicer as well. Perhaps try before you buy

It was underwhelming for me (the 39), felt light and less robust than a typical Rolex sports model. No easy link and stamped crown on clasp made it feel like the entry level watch it is in the catalog. It's still great but almost everything else I have tried in that price point feels more solid (Omega, Breitling, etc.). I'm glad I held out and got an EXP II instead, if I was a simpler man and wanted no date or complications it would be Explorer or Sub.

I agree!

IMO it's Rolex distilled down to its core: oyster, as in waterproof, and perpetual, as in automatic winding. The two things Rolex was known for innovating/bringing to the market.

Of course, there are other models that have become icons, but if you just want the pure, most essential Rolex experience - it's the OP. Have immensely enjoyed my 2020 36mm model.

That watch, though very nice looking, is too large for my preference, unfortunately. The OP39 white dial was THE perfect Rolex (for me). Maybe the 39mm Explorer is too. My sweet spot is 37-39mm... I can wear 36mm, though when I tried on the modern Datejust it just seemed small.
