Incoming… big

So I go to my AD seeking a professional watch. I have a couple of datejusts. What I really want is one, or all (with time…), of the following: Explorer 1, Kermit, Pepsi.

My sales rep tells me they don’t have those and that they’re extremely hard to come by (obviously.) But given that they know me and what not, she tells me she’s gonna go look in the back maybe there’s something she can show me. She comes back with this and tells me I can’t pass on it. I knew I couldn’t even if it’s not my favourite watch (too flashy?) that said I still pulled the trigger on it. Will it it grow on me with time? Maybe. I mean it’s a beautiful watch, it’s just that I was looking for a more subtle professional watch.

P.s. I meant “big” with an exclamation mark (?) in the tittle.*

Exactly.. I would’ve asked her why that wasn’t in the display case and that she could shove it where she thought when she said ‘you can’t pass that one’

Maybe a more diplomatic answer would’ve been ‘ well obviously I passed straight by it because I couldn’t see it in the display case’

New Rolex directive for 2021 : no back room storage is allowed :D

Awesome! Congrats, it’s a great watch. I thought it was too flashy too when I got mine. Love it now.

Nice, waiting for one just like it. But you bought an expensive watch which you hope will grow on you?

Strange decision - whenever I have bought a watch I’ve extensively researched it and decided it’s for me.

I don’t think you have satisfied yourself here.

Bluntly put but so very true.

Let op convince himself ! I guess if not, he can always resell… that’s why I hate AD practices of making you FOMO .. and that explains why they use the ‘ let’s see what in and find’ to I still a sentiment of wow just found a rarity .. whereas if it were in the display case, one might think ‘if it were a rarity it would be still available’

Maybe I need a break from Rolex

So the op bought a watch he never really thought about and will see if it grows on him meanwhile someone else who is on the supposed list for one doesn’t get the call. The op wears for a month decides it is not to their liking and then sells it and another watch goes to the grey market.

Wear the TT 41 SUB until you can source the SS watch that you want. You can sell the watch you purchased for a profit or break even at the worst.

The watch is a total icon. Enjoy the watch, I am sure it blows some of your DJ out of the water.

You always want what you can’t have. You have a watch in hand more beautiful than the others. If you couldn’t get it, you would probably want it more. Wear it, enjoy it, it is a great watch!

The new Bluesy Sub41 is a solid choice on many levels. I personally wouldn’t want to be told I “couldn't pass” on any watch unless they were giving it free to me. That’s a aggressive sales tactic but regardless it’s a hell of a watch.

Is it still considered a “sports” watch or is it considered more of a dressy piece because of the TT? Could you still wear it with a t-shirt and go to the beach?

And please don’t get me wrong, I like it a lot, and I feel lucky to have been able to put my hands on it. I know some are on a “waiting list” to get one and I don’t wanna sound spoiled and insensitive. I was simply saying that there are other models that I personally like more.

Thanks for your input.

Huge congrats! Very lucky, I had to wait >6months for mine. It’s one of my favorites. It’s def a sport professional watch and can be an everyday wear. Goes well with a tux or at the beach. Just wear and enjoy!!
