Ugly Designs and Stupid Names LOL

Well, this article should get some TRFers good and disgusted ... Not only do they suggest hideous designs, but already have the nicknames established!

This is why I love that Rolex is a private company that doesn't need to listen to anyone.

Exactly. First thing I thought.

Omega already does this and owns the market for it. No need for another brand to delve there.

What next?

Submariner Dates with chrono functions?

SeaDweller 43s with GMT functionality?

Thank good although 79 years old I still have my own common sense not to click or believe the contents of such internet links.

All information supplied from my own 79 year old brain power, without the aid of loupes, nicknames, links on the net etc, timegraphers, alignment points, protective film, AD relationship building stuff, investments, special cleaning cloths, phone apps, and the rest of todays Rolex watch toys.

It's all in good fun Peter, we know it won't happen. I only posted because it's a funny combo of two things that are well hated on TRF... ugly colors and nicknames

Terrible. The only two things I agree with the author about are that I don't care for the Batman and I would like the Coke to come back.

This is where the discussion jumps the shark, because clearly some collectors are hyped by these offerings. I've seen stuff like this on Instagram for years now with largely supportive comments. The whole point of the GMT bicolor bezel is to easily differentiate day from night hours. I can't speak to why red/blue and red/black were chosen initially. I guess they can loosely correspond to day/night, but truthfully blue/black is the color combination that makes the most sense in terms of correspondence to the sky. In fact, the BLNR was referred to by Rolex as the day/night bezel in some of their literature.

I think it’s kind of an interesting premise. I agree that A new coke would be great. Also, the thought of adding some new colorways to the GMT line, is a worthy area of exploration and market expansion. I’m not sure that these exact colorways would be the way to go but, the red and white design, not sure what they called that maybe diet Coke? That, kind of reminds me of some of the faded Pepsi bezels which really looked fantastic in the vintage sector. I think with not too much design development, rolex could roll out some newer models and keep the line fresh. I wonder if they just had somebody write up an article like this to test the waters? Rolex did that with the date just and they’ve got a palm tree dial. It’s not for me but it is interesting to see that.

Click bait. Literally

These sites don't make money from providing informative reviews or expanding the reader's knowledge, they make money from clicks.

Just like modern rage-bait media, they write a nonsense story hoping to enrage you enough to share their link.......thus creating more clicks.

Use a site like 'archive.today' to archive the link and share in that way, thus starving them of clicks and revenue. When the clicks stop, they'll stop writing these junk stories.

Here's the archived link. You can click it a million times and Fratello won't make a cent.

Makes sense, thanks for the info and link... I'm not affiliated with the site in any way, just thought it was entertaining garbage...I tried to update the original post with the link but it's been too long.
