Tudor Black Bay Chrono or Omega Seamaster 300?

I've been debating which of the two watches to get as an everyday watch.

I just sold my Omega Moon watch but don't miss it at all.

So the debate begins. Do I get the Omega Seamaster 300 (which reminds me of my 1988 Seamaster that developed that similar patina that the 300 has), or do I go for the Tudor Black Bay Chrono?

A friend of mine says to get the Omega since I have four Rolex watches and not one Omega in the stable anymore. He feels the Tudor is a "wanna be" Daytona.

I currently own the Hulk, a black GMT, a TT DJII, and a blue DJ 41, along with a Breitling Avenger, a Panerai Submersible 973 and a 392.

To be honest I prefer the noi watch to both of those.

But, as it's gone I would go for a 300M

I don't have an opinion on either one, but one thing that bothers me about the Tudor, after watching a video of how they modified the Breitling movement, swapped parts out with Tudor parts. I'm no expert, so I can't be 100% sure, but I think there's a gaping hole in the movement where a Breitling part used to be. I think you can see it in this picture. It somewhat bothers me. It'll never be seen as a true in-house movement, if that matters to you at all.

IŽd get the Tudor. A lovely high quality watch with the panda dial imo! And who cares about all the people braying out loud "It's just a Daytona wannabe...!"? I haven't yet tried on the Tudor, and the only real criticism I've read in reviews is that the snowflake hour hand obscures the sub dials. But honestly, how often would you be looking at the sub dials in everyday life?

I always thought the blue dial titanium 300 was cool. That would be my choice if going Omega. Never really liked the this type of Tudor bracelet. I would probably go with the heritage chrono over this Tudor.

So they took the wheel off but kept the jewel. So the jewel is there so they can say they have more jewel but isn't attached to anything haha

The Omega. Particularly the new sandwich dial Seamaster 300 - it's so nice, and doesn't have a giant hour hand blocking the subdials. On the flipside, the new Omega fixed several issues that plagued the previous version.

Although I personally gravitate toward the Omega, I think the Tudor is a better fit for your collection. Chrono out (Speedy), chrono in (Tudor). Best wishes

Both are excellent choices and I own both.
I will go with Omega over Tudor.

Thanks for the info everyone.

It's a 50/50 split so far.

I definitely need to try both on and compare. Let's hope my AD has both since I have only tried on the Tudor so far.

I have also been considering both of these watches, although the Seamaster 300 in white. I have been waiting on the Tudor now for about 2 months due to the Breitling movement issue. I really like the Tudor, but sure wish the hands were colored a little different. I guess I’ll decide when I see it in person and try it on. Good luck with your decision.

Omega. Though were it me, I'd want to try on both blue and black, seeing as you have a black GMT already.

As a lover of smaller watches, I'd personally be eyeing the 1957 version, in 39mm, but the 41 seems to fit with the rest of your collection better.

This is a very difficult one

If it were my first watch or the start of a small collection, definitely the omega.

The finish, design and especially the movement is just another league.

The base 8900 calibre is nothing short of a masterpiece. This years refinements with the case, bracelet taper and sandwich dial make this SM300 even more compelling.

I however do not own one, I love them, i have an SM but along side the subs I have the 300 wouldn’t get worn. I do collect mainly chronographs and the Tudor chrono was a very nice addition for me.

It depends on why you don't miss the moon watch, but I voted for the Omega.

Well, I pulled the trigger and ordered the Omega. Should be here in two weeks my AD said.

He also told me that the 300M is being discontinued in 2021. I wonder why?

Congrats!

very surprised about the 300M. But then Omega has dozens and dozens of variants. It's probably a good idea to trim down to the essentials and build up the fan base.
