Opinion on 18038 "Jubilee Dial"
Has anyone seen this dial before? I can't seem to find any other examples of it? Is this factory Rolex dial or custom? It's a Rolex monogram jubilee anniversary dial in ivory/cream. Seen here on an 18038 6-mil serial.

Yes, they did make DD Jubilee dials in white, here’s one with diamond indices -

Not a white dial showing age, the day and date wheel are not white. It is cream. It looks original to me, but the markers look strange for a quickset. Are those solid markers on the minute track? I have never seen that before on any dial variant.

I found this image, described as a 18238 with Ivory Jubilee. If yours is a 18038, the serial should reflect a date 1985-88, because the Jubilee dials arrived in ‘85, and 18038 models ended in ‘88.

Or it could be an 18238 dial swapped into an 18038 since they are interchangeable. Wont know until the OP comes back with the serial. It sure is a pretty dial though.

One odd thing - Can’t be *at all* sure from these pics, but it looks like perhaps the 18238 I posted has lume inside the markers, while the OP’s does not?
I believe some non-lume dials were delivered with lumed hands (especially stone/wood dials), but if the OP’s dial has no lume, this seems an odd one for that pairing. Maybe this tends to indicate the dial swap Matt/offrdmania mentioned? In any event, I expect this is a genuine Rolex dial - These seem unlikely subjects for fakery. OP - Jubilee dials are described as all colors having iridescence, you may want to get some photos with different lighting/angles and check that. |

Thanks all - I'm thinking that is was a 18238 or 18038 jubilee dial swapped into earlier 18038 model.
It is interesting though to see how many "Jubilee Anniversary dials" there are on pre-1985 models. Are they all dial swaps by definition? |
