BB Fifty Eight advice
Hi fellowes,
I am waiting for my Sub 126610 from my trusty AD. The watch should have been delivered this month for my 40th BDay, but unfortunately today I was advised that the delivery is postponed to the beginning of 2022. I am here to ask you if, in my shoes, you would buy a BB 58 (and which color) to celebrate the BDay. I like it but I haven’t never considered to add one to my collection till today. Waiting for your comments,

Happy Birthday!
As you can see in this thread here, I went with the blue. Honestly, I like this watch as much as any Rolex that I have ever owned, and more than most of them. It's a keeper.

It’s a great watch! But if you’re set on the Rolex it won’t scratch that itch. If I was you, if you can afford it I would buy one on the used market, enjoy it. And when you finally get the Rolex decide then if you want to keep it or sell the BB58. I suspect whatever you buy it for, it will sell for about the same so nothing lost really.
For the record I own a BB58 and love it. Perfect proportions and lovely dial, lume and overall a watch I would 100% recommend.

I wouldn’t buy on a whim but the BB58 is definitely a solid watch that would serve you well should you choose to do so

If it were me, yes, but I'd rather have the BB58 than the current sub (mostly due to size). The tougher question is blue or back dial. I have tried on the black dial but not the blue yet, so I'm not sure which I would ultimately choose.

I have the original BB58 and the 124060. I absolutely love both watches. I’d say I just prefer the Sub BUT the BB58 really is a cracking watch for the money. Wears very nicely.

So much obviously depends upon individual preferences, wrist size/shape, and what else is in your collection. But for myself (6.75"ish wrist), when I got the chance to pick up a BB58 Blue, it was a no brainer. Just looks so good and fits perfectly. Potential concerns about the lack of certain adjustability (vs glidelock) in the bracelet didn't impact me. Also like the aluminum bezel just fine and have other watches with ceramic bezels to scratch that itch.
Sold my only Submariner (LVc) and now the only Rolex/Tudor diver in my collection is the BB58. Haven't missed the Hulk at all, but that's just my experience. |

I own both BB58s and the blue definitely gets more time on my wrist.

Go with blue, when the sub arrives you’ll have a blue and black watch rather than two black ones…

So the BB58 will NOT scratch the itch for a modern Sub.
Nonetheless, it is a fantastic piece. It may pleasantly surprise you and can hold you over until the Sub comes in. Afterwards, it will compliment the Sub quite well. If you do go with it, the blue is more unique, but the OG is my choice. It is incredible IMO. Can’t go wrong though. I’d personally stay away from silver and gold 58s. |

Fantastic watch but you're settling. Keep the course so you won't have regrets.
BB58 isn't going anywhere, so you can double back later if it grows on you. |

I had blue and the black, both very nice tones. 51% blue, 49% black for me. Really can't go wrong either way.

BB Fifty Eight advice
Had first BB58 black and then added blue when a friend decided to sell his with the intention of keeping one of them:
Black left to a new home! Either color is a great watch to keep even after the Sub arrives; newer silver and bronze versions nice too! (by the way, happy upcoming birthday!! )

You have to own both.
Blue for summer and Black for winter. Both look awesome on bracelet. Black is a beast on leather straps and most NATOs. Blue is a beast on a blue rubber strap or a blue NATO. |

I would providing it doesn't prevent the sub purchase. The BB58 is a great watch and very similar in many ways to the original 6204 sub. Tudor watches are solid and in my opinion as well built as a modern day Rolex and offer excellent value for money. I would buy either the black or blue on a bracelet and you can always play around with Nato straps to give it a different look.

There is zero assurance that you will in fact get your Rolex at the beginning of 2022. That is a time frame that the AD is hoping will keep you from contacting them until then. Maybe you should consider other watches as well as the Tudor, such as Omega, Oris, Seiko, Tissot, etc. There are plenty of watches that are available that function just as well as Rolex.

I have a 114060 and the BB58 blue. I find I wear the BB more than the Sub. A great watch.

I don't tend to buy watches on a whim so personally I wouldn't. That said, the BB58 is a great watch, especially for the cash, so you could certainly do a lot worse.

I was in a similar position, except 50th not 40th.
I bought the BB58 Blue and then decided I wanted a no date Sub so visited dealers and got on lists. I’ve since bought a DJ which scratches the itch for a Rolex for my 50th and have come to appreciate the BB58 even more, the quality and design is perfect. I’m further up the list for a Sub now but I’ll probably be happy with the 58 and DJ if I don’t get the Sub. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Happy early bday. No watch will scratch that itch, just wait lol. I think it will be more special, and you already designated it as your birthday piece so whether you get it a month from now or early next year it’s still just that. I have 2 watches to grab for 2 birthdays. Both not far out incoming wise. Hold out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
