Rolex Cellini model?

Hi all,
I recently came across my late grandfather's Rolex Cellini. I did some cursory research on vintage Rolex Cellini's but got distracted with work emails to really focus...

Anyway, I would appreciate any info on this piece if you have. The only notation on the piece is "18k" by the buckle.

Thanks!

Goodness me, that bracelet is lovely. We hardly look at Cellinis but some of them are beautiful.

I don’t know anything about this model, but certainly the case, bracelet and clasp are all solid 18 karat (.750) white gold.

Your grandfather was a stylish fellow indeed, I hope you’ll wear it with pride!

I love the bracelet too - the interlocking of the links is fascinating. Hope it fits you OK - I wouldn't fancy your chances of finding extra links for it.

Interesting how the Roman numerals on the bezel look like those of an Omega Constellation. It also has the characteristic Rolex "IIII" rather than "IV".
Great info Zapokee, thank you! The bracelet thankfully fits. There are two clasps insertion parts (not 100% what the terminology is) so no need for extra links. And yes, I too am a fan of the IIII numerals

Hello,

Apologies for the later reply here, but I've been away from this forum for quite some time and just recently came back (and I'm still getting my head around the state of modern-day Rolex collecting - to say that it's a bit different from how I remember it is an understatement !).

Anyway...this is most definitely a Rolex Cellini, as you already know, and as others have confirmed will be made of 18-carat white gold throughout the case and bracelet.

I've not been able to find a precise model reference, but I've got a few close matches. I've got a fairly large collection of Cellini catalogs, going from the 1960s up until the present day. None of the ones I saw had the Roman numerals on the bezel, which is what kept throwing me off. But I've enclosed a few images that are the closest matches I can find, with the model references displayed.

My own gut feeling here is that this is a model from the 1960s or early 1970s, as I can't recall personally seeing this model with anything other than a plain or lined bezel, without Roman numerals. But Rolex sold variations on this particular theme (the "TV case", as it was nicknamed, for obvious reasons !) for quite a few decades.

Anyway, hope this is at least of some help !

Hi,

After a little bit more digging (couldn't quite let this one go), I think this *might* be a ref. 3830, but I'm not yet completely certain. That's the only Cellini model I can find a mention of that has the TV case, but Roman numerals engraved on the bezel instead of hour and minute markers. Anyway, try having a look for that reference and see if you think it matches up. Good luck !
