Help! Datejust Green or Silver Dial?

Hey guys,

I’m a 5’4” petite woman buying my first Rolex. Looking for feedback on dial colors! I hope to be able to use it for nearly daily wear and concerned about the green not matching enough or matching with my classic style. Then again, it’s a Rolex and the green is super special and unique.

What do you think? Green or silver?

Thanks in advance for your feedback!

Welcome.

As your daily watch, I would go with the silver sunburst dial.

Green is lovely, but it will clash and it will bother you at times, as you have already highlighted. I have a few green dial watches and they stand out and have that something special but they don’t always work with everything if that bothers you. I also have the silver dial datejust in the same configuration as you posted, 36mm and it’s classic, but a safe bet.

My wife wears the slate, aka the Wimbledon dial which can add a bit of character.

Good luck with your search.

My wife says silver, but she goes for the classic looks. Either way you can’t go wrong!

Silver is more versatile... if that’s very important to you.

I disagree with green not matching or clashing with other colors. My better half has an olive dial two tone Datejust and loves it. From my eye it looks beautiful with whatever she wears and she feels the same way.

I vote for that mint green dial. Like you said, it's unique and I think you'll appreciate it more than the standard silver.

The mint green DJ31 is my wife's dream watch. The silver is timeless and classic of course, but the green is just gorgeous.

Hi! Silver dial! A good acquaintance of mine is about your height and has the DJ silver dial...she wears it with all sorts of outfits and to my eyes it always looks good, never out of place! Classic and timeless, imo!

I bought my wife the same exact watch in green so I'd recommend green.

Green. It’s a subtle green. It’s the perfect shade, and not flashy.
Silver looks good as well. However, the green is just as nice.

I prefer green as i love the contrast of it. I personally don’t like being matchy matchy with my watches.

Green is the hot dial color these days. It looks fine, but risks appearing dated in five years. Silver is timeless. No bad choice either way.

Love the green, interested in getting one myself. But if you want to wear the watch near daily, I’d go silver. With the caveat that I haven’t seen it in person, I think the deeper tone of the “mint” dial will be a bit less versatile than the similar “olive” dials for most people.

Welcome to the forum

My wife had the same dilemma, but settled on classic silver.

What's really nice about this dial is that it changes from silver to almost pink or copper colors depending on the light.

Good luck deciding

I would go green. Personally I think it’s beautiful and pop of color like that goes well with most things.

In all honestly I’m bias though. I plan on purchasing the green dial fluted on oyster for my wife to replace hers if these random large bills would stop popping up lately.

Saw the green and romans two tone.
It’s my favourite dial colour behind pink and aubergine for a lady.

A lot of thought probably went to picking the exact shade. It’s beautiful in person.

My wife got a pink dial DJ this year that is very subtle. If you’re looking for some color, but nervous about clashing the pink definitely would work as a daily wearer.
