Owning Two Subs? (14060M + 114060)
All -
I am the proud owner of a 114060 that I purchased from an AD in December 2017. Paid full price then, but feel lucky knowing the shortage that has ensued since that time. Although I haven't worn my sub as much recently, I love the bracelet and the glidelock system. The bracelet / opportunity to buy new is what drove me to the 114060 rather than an older sub. More recently, I feel like I'd like something a little more subdued in certain occasions. I used to own a 2-line Pelagos that I wore on the rubber strap (black). I loved it, but wound up selling to move on to my sub. Which brings me to my present situation. I have a friend with a 4-line 14060M and he is looking to move on from it. He says he had a jeweler offer him $5,500.00, which he is willing to let me buy it for. He says he think that is low, but wants to move on from it since he never wears it (FWIW, his sub does have his initials on the case back). I am thinking about picking up his 14060M and putting in on a Rubber B or Everest. Do any of you own multiple versions of the sub? Does it make any sense? I do feel there would be occasion to wear both. But I'm going to have to justify this one to the boss for dropping $6k on a "second" watch ... would appreciate any input. RoloRonnie |

Sounds like a great buy to me and makes perfect sense. Let me know if you don't want it and I'll take it ;-)

Depends on how much you love the look. I like divers but personally wouldn't need two subs. I like a bit more diversity in my collection.

That is a great price for a great piece. I paid $5K for my 14060M in 2013. It’s worth about double that now. You can always have the case back brushed or changed at the next service. I also got my 124060 in June. The 2 models have so many differences between them that it was justifiable to me to own both. I enjoy them for different reasons and both will be staying with me for a long time. Bottom line is buy what you like at the best price you can live with and enjoy them.

Most definitely!
That’s a steal unless it’s significantly over-polished. I might also suggest a BB58, as it feels more or less like a modern equivalent to the 14060M, albeit somewhat more low-key and with a longer power reserve. Bracelet quality/preference is debatable between the two, though, as each has its downsides. |

First, it’s a great buy for the price so you can’t go wrong there.
Second, the look will be different enough that it will feel like a different watch. Here’s my sub on a Rubber B |

I owned the 114060 which I sold to buy the 124060 from an AD. The new Sub is an upgrade with thinner lugs etc. and could be the only watch in any collection. That is, until you try the 14060M 2 liner which I also have. The M wears light and is more subdued than the new Sub. The price you’re getting for the M is a steal. Go for it.

I would own 14060M over the 114060. It seems to be a great price for 14060M. The 5 digits fit better than the 114060 in my wrist and the newest 124060 case better than the previous gen.

My TT is awesome. 116613LB. The case, dial, hands and movement beats the previous versions I had from the 70s and 80s.

If you can afford it and like the style, I think you may regret passing on it down the road. I have a 14060M and a 124060, they are my two favorites. The 14060M was my first Rolex and I wear it on a (gasp) zulu strap, while the 124060 gets the most wrist time. If I was only able to keep one of them it would be the 14060M due to version history, it was my first, it wears slightly smaller and is slightly more comfortable.

FWIW, if I was offered a 14060M for $5,500, I would jump on it provided it was in good shape. To most, it's the same watch as the 114060. Of course, to us it's a very different watch with its own aluminum charm (and IMO looks better on rubber and especially on leather than a 6-digit Sub does). It's a great price and if you don't like having two, it's a very desirable piece you could trade for something else. Alternatively, you might find you like it even more than the 114060.
In terms of justification to the boss, beyond the enjoyment, it's a watch you are getting way below market value that is probably only going to become more desirable in the coming years. |

What if you bought it to determine which you liked better and then traded the other for something new?

I have an 114060 & a 16610 - they wear differently and they compliment each other.
Buy that 14060M, you probably never get another chance at that price. Case back changed at next service. |

Have both.
They are two completely different watches to wear. I wear my 14060M the most.

The price for 14060m is great. I would not hesitate. That was my first Rolex, I bought it in 2016 for approximately similar price. Great watch, last of the drilled case legends. Still have mine.

I used to own three Subs... Sold the TT tho, because I prefer steel or gold, not something inbetween |

I have both the 124060 and the 14060m which was my first nice watch. I use my 14060m for the gym. 14060m has the better size, 124060 a better bracelet but they are ofcourse identical (ask a non-watch person to tell the difference, they cant)
If you have a 10+ collection.... sure why not for that price. |
