Offered YM40 Everose Oysterflex.. thoughts?
An AD where I recently acquired a lady-datejust had offered me the yacht-master 40 Everose Oysterflex.
I really want a gold Oysterflex, but the Daytona is where my heart is. The AD nicely told me that a Daytona is a ways down the road for me, which makes sense. Would love to hear the opinion of this forum on the YM40 Everose I’ve been offered. I’ve tried one on previously and liked it a ton. I know it’s not commanding a huge premium over list, but I don’t care as I’m keeping all of my watches for my kids and nieces/nephews. While I really do like this watch a lot, a small part of me feels like I’m buying into the current hype. Not long ago this watch could be had grey at a nice discount. The inherent monetary gain/loss isn’t my concern, but somehow I keep coming back to the fact that maybe this watch isn’t so hard to get and I should just pass. Also, this would be my first PM watch. |

If you don’t love it, don’t get it.
However…I had this watch for about a year and absolutely loved it. It’s honestly the only watch I’ve traded away that I still miss (including some Daytonas). I would say take a look at it in person and give it a real chance. |

What’s up with these threads asking strangers if they should spend $40k on a watch they don’t particularly care for?
Edit: oops, I must apologize to OP (not) since the watch is only $30k w/ tax and not $40k as I previously stated. By all means buy it, maybe buy two. |

Great watch, but that's a lot of cash for something you'd get just because it's available.
One huge advantage of the YM OF over the Daytona is the Glidelock clasp. Sent from my SM-G960U using Tapatalk |

Gorgeous timepiece but don't buy if you preferred Daytona, wait for whatever you really love, don't settle for second choice.

I like that watch a lot. It's one of the couple Rolex models that I don't own and plan to buy sooner or later. I was offered one about 6 months ago, but just not in a position to justify such a purchase right now. If it was me and I could afford it, I would jump on that one in a heart beat.
....full disclosure, I really dislike the Daytona, so that part of the decision was easy for me, lol. |

Have tried it on multiple times and love it. For some reason the bezel and font look larger to me with the matte finish, but overall I was very impressed in person. It does seem like it should be more of a low to mid 20's price point for what it is, but I don't make those marketing calls.

In many ways I feel it's Rolex's best watch. Fluid case, ceramic bezel, oysterflex with glidelock.
I got rid of mine as soon as it started showing issues of the 32XX issue. The newer ones you'd hope have a fix for this but there have been no firm confirmation of this. |

Offered YM40 Everose Oysterflex.. thoughts?
I think he was referring to an ongoing discussion about the 32xx movements here on TRF (and likely elsewhere). https://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=786299 You’ll see that long thread talks about amplitude, accuracy and precision - not taking sides myself, just answering. Beautiful watch but if that’s not where your hearts set at then I would think hard about it

Picked this up a couple weeks ago after considering it for years. One of the sleeper hits of the current Rolex collection in my opinion.

I purchased one a year ago but recently let it go. The rubber bracelet and the clasp never felt comfortable to me.

It’s nice but not priced in a good way. 20k and I would run to buy it. 30k for what amounts to a spoonful of gold, more than twice the price of the steel variant with platinum bezel!
This one is truly reserved for those with tons of money and who don’t care what costs what. |

I like them, but I've seen them here at greys for less than new MSRP. Plenty of them too.
