Do I pay over RRP for a Rootbeer

I'm not normally a bi metal watch guy, but I've tried the two tone root beer on and fallen in love.

Do I pay the grey price as a call from an AD is very unlikely.

I truly love how the watch feels and looks on.
Seeing them for about £15.5k gbp

Oh man, I've just spent £ 16k on a Pepsi GMT II. I want the watch, I am a mug.

CHNR is a beauty!

It is obtainable via an AD, but still not easy. Well sought after as a TT.

It may be a 6 month to 1 yr wait. If you buy gray, you can get it for about a 20-30% markup, depending on taxes or not….and you could have within a few days.

Your call. I went the AD route and visited/called/emailed several within driving distance and eventually one called me back stating they had one and wanted to sell to me based off interest expressed in my communication. Paid MSRP. Happy with it!

It's definitely a gorgeous piece.

As for whether you should go grey on it, opinions are very divided here. Me personally, I'd say if you want it bad enough and have the financial means to without jeopardizing your daily life, then go sign up on a "wait list" from the ADs and then get one from grey. When you get the call from your AD just sell the old one.

I am based in London/Hertfordshire

I believe there is no possible way of getting one from AD

my two options are go without.... or pay inflated price.

I can afford but paying 30% over grates on me a bit/lot

If you really love it then yes — pay the premium for the certainty (and ease) of getting it.

Don’t let it grate you — think of the AD price as a 30% discount on market price for those who have spent before and/or are willing to risk uncertainty if/when they will get the watch.

Guess it is obtainable from ad, 6 months to 1 Yr? I waited for 1 month, but it was before the covid pandemic.

I tried it on and loved it.
Typically no patience and not interested in relationships other than with the Mrs.
Next day bought it grey and walked out with a brand new stickered CHNR (18K EU)
Zero regrets.

Nothing is coming through in London so my advice, like others have said before me, is go grey and when you get the call, sell the old one.
Good luck.

I have a BLNR, so I am familiar with the real thing. The build quality, especially in the bracelet, is nowhere near Rolex. But the look is pretty close. Invest your $15k while waiting for your CHNR to arrive. This costs $100.

I'm getting told

No chance for hulk
2 years for batman
4 years for rootbeer if at all.

That's Essex and London sellers

And several I have purchase history with specifically Rolex buys

Hard to believe root beer would take longer than Batman currently

I think it is a London thing, but don’t underestimate the growing interest in the root beer. I got mine after about a month wait, but it didn’t sit with me. Seems easier to get in the states.

I’m probably applying my hard bias against two tones. Really don’t like them. Haha
