1960s Oyster Precision - Dial question
Good morning,
A friend of mine just purchased this 1964-65 6424 Oyster Precision. Looks great IMO, and according to the pictures of the listing the Serial Number, movement, t Swiss t check out. However I have a question about the font size of the word OYSTER below ROLEX. It looks like the font size is the same for both words, which I don’t think I’ve seen elsewhere. I know that different manufacturers used to produce Rolex dials so he’s not overly worried, but what do you think? Have you come across a dial like that? What do you think of the other pictures? Many thanks in advance for your precious help, I’m always amazed at the wealth of knowledge across this forum. |

Looks refinished to me too but that shouldnt effect its value. They did a handsome job and on an entry level piece like this, it wont effect its collectability IMO. Refinishing of dials was a very common practice and it would be somewhat hard to find a replacement dial today for it.

IMO the dial is repainted, as noted above.
