You guys complain too much!

All right . . .

Lately I have seen numerous threads/posts that were negative about our favorite watches.

I am NOT criticizing because I have my own issue, and it is accuracy. Unlike some on this forum, I do expect outstanding accuracy from a $10,000 watch.

I understand the movements are mechanical and all the arguments against my concern, but still I am "anal" as some have referenced when it comes to this issue. I hope for +1 or -1 seconds a day. Yes, I am setting myself up for disappointment.

I have noticed many members here seem to have:

COSC accuracy issues,

bezel complaints,

RSC nightmares,

A.D. frustrations,

scratch worries,

price increase fears/anger . . .

I could go on and on.

My favorite threads are the positive ones where members are reunited with their watches or someone finally gets a watch they have dreamed of for two or three decades.

However, I still want to know . . .

What single issue, as it relates to Rolex, concerns you the most?

Past, present, or future . . .

Quality control. I am rather concerned with making a $5000 purchase via telephone today. Luckily, I have a 5 day return period.
I think that MOST of the recent complaints revolve around watches being released for sale that should not have been.

I don't want to see the daytona or SS Submariner with a supercase. I think that Rolex is changing and I don't like it. I like rolex how it used to be.

Oh, did I mention prices. They are just to darn high. A submariner 4-5 years ago was $4000, $4000!

Now, the same watch with few improvements in $6000.

The irony! You complaining about people complaining, then asking for complaints.

Admittedly, I gave myself a night to swill martinis and gripe about an RSC service eighteen years ago, but you're absolutely right--it is possible to set the bar too high. Thing is, our expectations are high.

The computer I'm typing this on is a p.o.s., maybe six years old and on its last legs. Still, it has more computing power than anything NASA had when they put a man on the moon. Most of us use our computers for tasks like this, which is like jumping in a Formula race car to drive down to the mailbox to pick up the mail. Still, we all want to get down that driveway faster!

The same is true of our watches. Really, who gives a rat's patootie about 2 or 3 seconds a day? On what planet would that actually make a difference to any of us? We just don't function within those tolerances. Anyone who does needs professional help. They have medication for OCD today.

Which is to say, I have few concerns about Rolex. They are gems, one and all, marvels of engineering and manufacturing, and at their flukiest far more accurate than anything we'll ever need.

My one concern is not with the product, but with the people involved in bringing the product to market. The recent thread about an AD losing a sale is slightly alarming...but even that is mild. I don't think I'll be buying from an AD any time in the near future, particularly given the deals available here.

i never actually pay attention for such accuracy...+1 or -1 is not really a big deal to me...scartches?? just have it polished for $24-$50...the only complaint ill probably complain is if my watch stops moving..but anything else is just fine..as long as im not late for appointments im good...

No complaints here.

As long as it is reaosnably accurate, runs and is cheaper than new on the used market, I'm good.

If the food is bad in a restaurant I tell them. If the fruits are bad at the green grocers, I tell them.

So what's wrong with telling the world that there are quality issues with an expensive watch?

Agreed !! Texans are too tough! Gotta be, living next to amigo-land. Their idea of BBQ is all wrong though, leave the cows alone and chase a pig!

Me, I am concerned about where Rolex is going as well. The square Datejust case, the polished center links on the GMT, the new DD (why oh why did they mess with that????) The baby blue WG Sub, jeeeeze!! The prices!! Damn, a SS Daytona is a hair away from $10,000.00 ??? Are they nuts??

Let me see if I got this right. You are complaining that people complain too much about Rolex so therefore you started a thread that will be full of complaints?

So would it be unreasonable to complain about threads that complain about complaining?

I just might start one....

My complaint is everything about them.

I'm moving to Casio!

I'll probably only complain about those too though.

All complaints can always fix.

So instead of complain just get things working.

Or buy another watch so you forget the others.

My complaint is the people complaining about the people that complain about a thread that complains about complaining.

Just kidding no complaints here.

Well the prices are high but I never thought that I'd get a Rolex for cheap so...

Now that I have one I do expect excellent service, it's their reputation. And if I find I am displeased I will just talk to a manager and explain my case. Every time someone does that I hear a positive story with a great resolution for the owner.

Complaints are fine but taking action to resolve whatever issue you have is a better deal.

Even with the pricing, just buy a nice pre owned one and save money if the MSRP is bothering you I guess.... And remember them raising the prices is what makes your watches hold/gain value over the years.

Things evolve. Mullets were fashionable in the 70's and the new Camaro's look nothing like they do when first introduced. We are in the 21st century. If we don't like the direction things are going (Rolex, haircuts, cars, etc...) we have the option to not go for newer styles of anything if we don't like them don't we? Like the weather - there is very little sense in complaining about things that are beyond our control. But that is human nature. Love TRF

Two complaints. Prices are getting too high from Tag to Rolex, and the sapphire crystal is a dirt magnet! I find myself constantly wiping my watches with a soft cloth ...
