First PM Rolex Incoming. It’s an 1803.

Been looking for one of these for a while, then this one turns up so I had to have it. Lost too many deliberating for too long, but this one seemed just right.

1972 1803 in 18k Rose Gold with 1556 hacking movement.

Have to say I’m thrilled with this piece. The condition is excellent.

This happens to be my first full PM Rolex watch. On the time-grapher it’s running +2 dial up, O dial down and -3 crown down. Day and date snapping over at midnight +2. For a 49 year old watch its running like a champ.

I was specifically after a nice Rose Gold Example and patience has paid off.

Took it to RSC today and had them fit some correct gold spring bars into the Hirsch strap I’ve put on it. RSC have also provided me with a list of strap and RG Tang Buckle options for this watch that they can supply and fit, but the prices are a little eye-watering!

Thank you for all the kind comments.

When you consider how rediculous the current SS craze is for modern sports at the moment, these older PM references are a bargain by comparison. They also have that beautiful vintage charm the newer references lack.

At some point I’d like to find a good example of a PM wideboy DJ or wideboy DD. Again, missed a few over the years due dithering too long.

The hunt continues.

That's beautiful. Congrats!

I'd definitely let the RSC get you a proper Rolex strap and gold buckle. It would be the icing on the cake. How much did they want to charge?

Congrats! Welcome to the 1803 family!

Did the RSC give you a catalog or price sheet for the strap and buckle options?

Huge congrats, lovely dial
I would buy an original buckle, never mind the strap, the brown gator looks awesome.

Here’s the email for RSC which shows what is available with the price. These prices do not include the gold spring bars at approx £35 each.

I had to split the email into two images so you can see the price of the buckle.

I’m tempted to buy the cheapest strap just so I can get the buckle. I actually prefer the brown Hirsch London I’ve put on it, because RSC won’t sell the buckle without one of their straps.

On chrono under accessories you may find some period correct buckles.

The new one is indeed steep. Good thing is they last a life time

Yes, pricey, but it's Rolex. It would elevate the whole watch to have a Rolex gator strap with gold buckle.

Personally, when I've already invested many thousands of dollars (sometimes tens of thousands) in a vintage Rolex, I figure several hundred more to make it brand correct and complete is worth it.

Either way, stunning timepiece.

I tend to agree. It’s got to be right for a few hundred more.

I dropped my first ever Rolex, a GMT Master in for its first ever service when I went to get the gold spring bars, I think I’ll order what I need and get the strap and buckle done when I go back to collect the GMT. I won’t be selling this 1806, it’s a keeper to eventually pass down to one of my daughters. I’m sure they’d appreciate it over and above any of my GMT’s or DJ2’s for their dainty wrists.

Exactly this. You can't be a cheapskate with a rose gold 1803 on your wrist. Splash out on the good stuff.

The real icing on the cake would be to get a rose gold President bracelet for it. Rolex will probably sell you one, but it would cost more than the watch head itself. I'm guessing 15 grand GBP for a bracelet from Rolex, but I might even be on the low side.

Go on. Treat yourself. It's not that much if you ammortise it over every year of your life. Less than a couple of quid a day. That's not even a Starbucks coffee. #PlantingTheSeed

Stop it.....I've got friends like you. They've cost me fortune over the years.

But you're right, it must have a genuine Rolex strap and Buckle. I will invest.

I may buy a strap and buckle to swap in place of my President bracelet. These watches look great on a strap!
