Datejust 41 - received the wrong bracelet from my AD, advice please!
Hi all, long time lurker first time poster. I ordered a Datejust 41 – model 126334-0001 blue fluted (my first!) from a local AD and it just came in, finally. Unfortunately, due to a miscommunication between the salesperson and I, the DJ was ordered with a oyster bracelet instead of the jubilee I really wanted. I am really not a fan of the oyster on a fluted bezel so I am pretty disappointed right now. The AD wasn’t sure if I could order a jubilee bracelet separately but that would incur another 1700 euro in costs, and also recommended that I keep the oyster bracelet as the watch is registered together with the oyster bracelet.
My options at this point as I see it: 1) Tell the AD I do not want the watch at all, and wait another year+ to get the same dial but with the correct bracelet. (argh!) 2) Take the watch and either try to sell the oyster bracelet or just hold on to it as recommended by AD. ( I don’t plan to sell this watch anytime soon so I don’t see the point with holding on to a bracelet I won’t use) a. Is it actually possible to order a jubilee for this model separately? b. Could I sell the oyster bracelet somewhere and get back most of my money? Also, why is it bad to sell the bracelet off separate from the watch? What would you experts recommend in this silly situation? Cheers |

Welcome to the forum
How did the miscommunication happen? Was there anything in writing at the time of ordering? |

You can order the jubliee bracelet separately. It is possible, but some ADs are ill-informed.
I would pass on this configuration and tell them to put you down for the correct reference and bracelet you want, but that’s my personal thoughts. They should give you priority for the mishap. I wouldn’t want to deal with trying to swap and offload a bracelet. Just get it done correctly from the get go. |

take the DJ41 oyster, you are going to love it after wearing it. if you return it to the AD, you may end up having nothing. because your AD might see you as a bad customer and you would be blacklisted.

Keep the watch as you waited a while for it and order the Jubilee bracelet.
You never know when the blue dial will come again with the fluted/jubilee configuration but the bracelet will be in maybe 4- 6 weeks. Good luck!

Ask the AD if there is another watch in store they can swap bracelets with. This is what my AD done when they received my DJ41 in with an oyster.

I would take the watch with the agreement that they order you the correct specification and when the jubilee one arrives, sell this watch. You might break even, ypu might make a profit. |

if i didn’t think i could get another one, i would take it and order the other bracelet. You can always sell the oyster bracelet and likely get close to breaking even. Or, keep it and enjoy both.

I got a DJ41 w/ oyster bracelet but after having it a while I decided to get the jubilee bracelet so walked in to my AD a couple of days ago and they had one in stock ($1,700 USD). I am now trying to decide if I want to keep the original oyster bracelet in the event I want to swap back and forth between the 2 or sell the oyster bracelet. I too wonder if this will present a problem down the road when the time comes to send the watch to RSC for service. I would be PISSED if they refused to service my watch because it doesn't have the original oyster bracelet. AD said RSC may refuse to service if sent without the original bracelet but I have a hard time believing that?

I ‘would never buy something expensive I don’t want at the end. DJ is much easier to get than sports models. New jubilee is as above in USD about 1,7K - 1/6 of new purchase you could save for !!! Eventually you can swap it but they will charge you ca. half. But if you have 1K usd to burn only to build relationship with AD its your decision.

I would cough up to add the jubilee. Having both is very nice and perhaps have a gator strap made with use of one of the original clasps.
Three different looks for a ‘small’ fee and icing on the cake some goodwill from your AD for a next purchase

#1 I'm shocked you can still order a SS DJ41. Over here in the U.S. they've been allocated for a while.
However, if you can still order the configuration you want just don't accept the watch they presented to you and have them order the right one. |

I'd wait for the watch you really want.

I don’t believe there’s anything in the model reference number that distinguishes between Oyster & Jubilee bracelets.
The thought that RSC would refuse to service the watch because it has the ‘wrong’ bracelet is misguided imho Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

If you somehow get a jubilee from Rolex it is in your best interest NOT to rid of the Oyster as that’s the way it is described according to you warranty card and serial number as Rolex sees it. Also you have versatility by keeping the Oyster. I would keep the watch as is.

RSC will service the watch regardless of which bracelet it has. As long as it’s genuine and appropriate for the reference number then it doesn’t matter. So should OP decide to keep this one and buy the jubilee and either keep the oyster to swap between both of them should the mood strike or sell it to make up the cost of the jubilee (which can be easily done in the current state of Rolex shortage and prices), is up to him. DJ41s have become as hard to get as pro models. Now if it was a 36 then maybe easier but no AD can predict when they will get one at this stage

RSC has told me straps etc are not an issue so long as they are fit for purpose.

I have a couple of Rolexes (OLD ones) and my experience has always been that as long as the accessory (bracelet, bezel, dial) was genuine Rolex and an option to the reference number (e.g. dial color was offered on that reference number on given year etc) then they are perfectly fine. What they won't do is accept a FrankenRolex.... bezel/dial that was never offered for the specific watch. I called my longstanding AD and he confirmed that is still RSC policy

I bought a DJ41 fluted with a jubilee bracelet. After a couple of months I also bought the oyster bracelet to be able to swap now and then. It’s like having 2 different watches and I really enjoy it. Buy a bergonon 7825 for the swaps. In not so many words, keep the watch and buy a jubilee.

Before buying my DJ41 I also thought the jubilee+fluted bezel was what I wanted. When I saw the real thing at the AD, I actually found the oyster+fluted bezel to be much better in aesthetics. I chose the oyster+fluted bezel. To this day I have not regretted my decision. The jubilee is an intricate bracelet, when it is paired with the fluted bezel the whole watch becomes too busy. On the other hand the oyster bracelet, with it's clean design, accentuates the fluted bezel. |

Are we really at the stage where we keep something ordered in error because we might not get the chance again to get the what we really wanted? I’d refuse it and if they can’t get you what immediately move on. It’s a Datejust.

The m126334-0002 is a Datejust 41 with a Bright Blue dial and a Jubilee bracelet. (https://assets.rolex.com/watches/dat...26334-0002.pdf) Edited to add: When you purchase a Rolex from an AD, the AD activates the warranty on the spot. This includes the full reference number. If presented to the RSC for service, it is my understanding that if the watch does not match the full reference number, they will not service it - at least during the warranty period. Not sure about after warranty. |

I'm not disagreeing with you but that is insane to blacklist you for an error they made. Quite the pickle. I would probably just buy the watch if this happened to me and look for a jubilee if the oyster didn't grow on me.

I wouldn't pick up something I didn't order. A datejust with a crimped bezel and a Jubilee bracelet is the best and most comfortable combination for this watch.
You will do as you see fit - good luck!

In 2019 I purchased TT YG DateJust 41 from WOS at Heathrow airport, the original came with Oyster bracelet but I wanted Jubilee, SA swap from the other watch for me and charged extra 1000 pound, the receipt shown as Jubilee bracelet.
If I were you, I will take it and order Jubilee bracelet later. If you wait for the next one and might be next year, the price probably increase also. Both look good.
