Both are gorgeous and in the same price range, so pick the one that sings to you the most.

Omg, no way. The Daytona is one of the most beautiful watches on the planet. The PP is great but no way I would do this.

This trade simply does not compute.
Solid gold Daytona with an interesting dial, regardless of the hype, for a steel and rubber travel time, nah. |

Yes. In normal times YG Daytona easier to find. List price of the Patek is higher (ignoring the desire for a metal bracelet). Good deal for you all around assuming you like the aqua design.

I own both the 5164 and the 116508. Probably my two favorite timepieces. They both have a comparable new price from an AD, and comparable market value. Also a similar WR (120m - 5164, 100m - 116508).
But that’s about where the similarities end. Patek vs Rolex. Steel vs 18k yellow Gold. Strap vs bracelet. GMT vs Chronograph. Date vs No Date. Lightweight vs Heavyweight. Exhibition caseback vs 18k gold caseback. Under the radar vs extremely flashy. Highly legible vs borderline illegible. Etc, etc. It just comes down to your personal preference. I love having both because of how different they are. But if I was forced to pick one… The 116508 YG Green dial Daytona is my favorite current Rolex reference, and the most beautiful modern day Rolex, imho. I believe it is a modern day, and future, classic. But I would probably choose the 5164. It could be a perfect “only watch”. It’s somehow considerably more sporty/casual than the 116508, and dressier at the same time. It’s travel ready. And (at least in this comparison) it’s significantly more under the radar, while still being a Patek Philippe. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Real facts:
it’s a choice between not being able to read the time or the time not being accurate due to inadvertently changing it. Both amazing watches on paper…practical use may differ

I doubt the daytona will be a classic - green colored dials never were classics and I don't think it will change anytime soon. They seem to be fashionable more than anything else.

Even though I love Green, the Patek is on a whole different level IMO. I say go for it.
