AP ROO Diver

Good day people...
Curious about everyone's thoughts of the value on these models. Is this seeming to be a popular option? It is more of a niche it seems. Not for everyone like some of the more typical RO models. More casual and sporty, different style for sure. Trying to get a sense of how these seem to hold up over time. I know it isn't usable in all settings (i.e. suit) etc.
Love to hear people's impressions.
I haven't seen many for sale as well and wonder if that's because they've been particularly coveted.

Well for me, being a fan of Royal Oak and offshores but needing a robust watch for daily wear, (I'm left handed and wear my watch on left hand) i went with a diver instead of a chronograph and couldn't be happier.

I am not a fan of chronographs so will be looking at the new Diver early next year. I have not tried at the AD in my area so can't comment on how popular or available they are. They do seem to receive less love then the other RO models.

Here in the UK nowadays a Diver for sale in a grey dealer typically doesn’t seem to last more than 24 hours before they are sold. I know WF in the UK sold a 2013 black dial non display case back a few weeks back for around £18,000 GBP and some display case backs reaching £20,000 GBP. They seem to be popular yet scarce over here for sure

I think it’s a great watch. Like anything else, if you get a stainless bezel model then it’s prone to scratching. Otherwise it’s a beautiful and more simple looking watch.

Good looking watch, but buy it if you like it as watches are not investments - they are a luxury item

Just bought mine (White dial, open display case) last week and took it off a competing Trade bid from a fellow UK Enthusiast seller. The Trader had it pre-sold for quite a bit more than I was able to strike a deal at - @ £20k+.

AP ROO Diver

Do you see these becoming more popular or are they more of a niche because of style and nonstandard AP appearance compared to the RO? I’m not sure if it’s too different or if that is an asset. Just curious about real world examples or opinions.

Good looking piece. If you look at the general prices of 15703st and 15710st, their values hold it very well. Btw, I am waiting for a diver:). Hopefully, I can receive it soon. Finger crossed.

Historically the ROO values have been softer and could always be had for a discount on the secondhand mkt. As of the last two years this is no longer the case and the newer models that recently released are bringing heavy premiums. Putting values to the side for a second the ROO is awesome for daily wear duty especially on the rubber strap. I tend to wear the ROO for work and weekends and the RO on more formal occasions. I wish I wore my RO more but it's just a little too bling for my everyday running around. GL

It’s an amazing watch,

Value doesn’t play a part in it

I love my 15703st and wouldn't get rid of it, but would love to add a 15450

I guess I wasn’t talking as much of value financially but personal value/interest. It seems like a lot of people seem to consider that the offshore line and the subset diver line as less desirable at least when compared to the standard models. That may be all hype but you don’t see everyone coveting a diver like the 15202 etc. There may be other historical reasons for that but I wondered how much it is purely the style vs something else. As a result was curious whether the main line will ever severely buoy the effective rarity of the divers or if the divers are too specialized to follow that path. Admittedly a 15202 or similar style is more universally accepted to wear in all circumstances though I do not subscribe to the idea that one has strict parameters of watch wearing etiquette.

AP Divers when you look at them might seem a bit big and bulky but when you put them on they somehow feel much more balanced on the wrist than you might expect. They are great watches and I would not part with mine!

Do the new divers have an in-house movement?

They are not as good of investments as the Royal Oaks, if that's what you are really getting at

I’m not really focused on the investment side vs having the new in-house movement as that means the model probably won’t be updated anytime soon.

In terms of personal value to me it’s a 10/10 - as it’s the perfect fit for me and my lifestyle. Maybe only the ceramic diver could be an upgrade for me but would trade off a bit on fragility.

A jumbo is of course more horoligicaly recognised, but I wouldn’t really want to wear it how I do my diver.

It’s perfect for sun, sand, snow, work and downtime - next time I go diving will be bringing it too.

I only want one watch that I can wear everyday and this fits the bill perfectly for me. The rubber strap plays a huge role in this too for functionality and comfort.

Only be governed by what you like, not what others do

Thanks. I didn’t realize the previous movement was also in-house. Maybe I was confusing it with the ROO chrono movements as I believe those are newly in house.

AP ROO Diver

I love mine. If you aren't used to a bigger watch it will feel heavy when you first put it on but after wearing it pretty much daily for 4 months now it feels right at home on my wrist. IMO it's a great entry into AP.

I had one (white dial with Blue accents) for about a year. I loved it, but I like using the bezel on watches to time things and it was just too much of a pain to access. And it is thick, so need to be pretty careful with reaching.
Looking back I should have kept it, but I used the funds (plus more) for a WG sub and didn't want that kind of hit to the account at that time.

They are very nice, you can feel the size and the weight of the watch for sure, but if you are after the ease of wearability, new 43roo is much better even at a bigger size.
