Okay, here it goes;

So Friday I was at work doing some fine grinding. When I completed the task I washed the part off in a soap/water solution and then blew it off with compressed air.

In doing so I had blew some of the soap solution on my watch. Not thinking about it, I used my shirt tail to wipe off the solution. No problem right? - WRONG! During the grinding process some very tiny abrasive partials had landed on my shirt and when I used it to wipe off my watch...... Oh No!

Yes my finely finished Grand Seiko is now marked with numerous fine scratches. Now the good thing is, most of the time you can't see them with a naked eye even in direct sun light. But under a bright LED lamp like I was using when I noticed the scratches they appear in brilliant display!
So now the question. It is only on the high polished areas on top of each lug. There is no marks any where else. So course of suggested actions please;

A) Send it off to GS for stupidity correction.

B) Start working the cape cod cloth

C) Leave it, deal with it in 10 years at service time

I would very much like to hear your opinions or any other suggestions.

OP - even if you can see them, leave it alone. I have a high beat GMT with the 44GS case and can pretty much guarantee that yours will, over time, accumulate hairlines on the lug flanks. Perhaps find a beater watch to wear in the workshop?

Another vote to leave it alone. This stuff will happen. You’ll accumulate these fine, hairline scratches no matter what you do.

I know there only new for a short while, But dang I hate that I am the cause of it. Funny, my PCL's on my Rolex were scratched before I even got home with it. Wore my old 42 PO for years banging the you know what out of it and can't find a scratch on it. Same with my Breitling SO.

Oh well, Live and learn. I will just wear it now as it's "broke in" .

Leave it and wear a Casio, or even a Turtle in the workshop. I think you GS still looks great!

Put away the LED light and try living with it. I wouldn’t DIY with zaratsu finishing.

Yes, too many contrasting angles and finishes to even attempt.
It is what it is. I knew it was inevitable, Just did think it would be so soon.

Most of the time I would say leave it alone but on the GS part of the appeal is the finishing. If it is not visible to the naked eye or causes you an issue then leave it alone. I think it is bothering you enough to make a post so maybe you contact your AD and see what they have to say.

I'm not going to attempt anything, But I will show it to my AD and see what they say. They do good work. Can't hurt to ask.

If it still bothers you after a period of time, send it in for a professional polish. You don’t want to mess with Seiko's high quality finish
