Glashutte Original SeaQ - reed green

I recently picked this one up and it has yet to come off my wrist.

I’m a fan of the 39.5mm size and 12.5mm thickness and find the bracelet supremely comfortable. The micro-adjust feature is a giant plus and I love the matte textured finish on the dial.

I like the domed crystal, color-matched date wheel, and applied dial furniture a lot. The Arabic numerals are a selling point for me, though I understand they may not be for everyone. To each their own.

So far, so good and I recommend giving this one a try if you’ve not.

I’m a big fan of green watches, so pictured the G.O. here with two other green favorites of mine. For comparison purposes, the GS SBGE257 and SeaQ are fairly close in color, but the dial on the GS has a sunburst finish.

I’ve been looking at these as well recently. I tried on one in the AD but was on the nylon strap.

How is the wearability and comfort compared to the Sub?

I tried on the nylon strap at the AD back in the spring, but figured I could always add it or the rubber later if the mood strikes.

I’d never tried the bracelet prior to receiving this one, but talked to owners and read a ton of reviews. The reviews overall seemed to say it’s good, but I think it’s better than good - it’s excellent. Very solid and being able to adjust the bracelet without removing the watch from my wrist is a pleasant bonus.

The SeaQ is very slim on the wrist - it’s 12.5mm thick, just like my LVc, but that includes the SeaQ’s domed crystal. Plus, in comparing the slim skin diver silhouette vs the maxi case sub, the SeaQ wears smaller, IMO.

I like my sub and SDs with glidelock a lot, but the SeaQ bracelet is comparable in functionality and comfort. The watch is perfectly balanced on my wrist and sits comfortably.

In my view, the sub vs 39.5 SeaQ is a pretty reasonable comparison overall, save for the 100m advantage the sub has in depth rating.

I like it. A lot I’d have to go with the 43.5 version due to the size of my wrist. Both versions are great IMO. Congratulations

A fantastic watch. But to shame you are not able to see the movement. All Glashütte movements should be seen since they look so great.

Thanks! Couldn’t agree more re: the closed caseback. Kind of a shame, but I’m ok with compromising there, since I like so many other aspects of the watch.

The 43.5mm panorama date model looks fantastic - I’m looking forward to seeing it in the metal and trying it on.

The TT version with grey dial really sings to me, but the on-paper measurements (including 15.65mm thickness) put it at the edge of my personal comfort zone.

I wear a SD43 and MM300s, so it’ll be borderline. From what I’ve read, it’s a substantial watch, but wears smaller than the measurements might otherwise suggest.

Great watch Bill, congrats.. Just picked up my first GO earlier this year and couldn’t be more pleased. Keeps a lot of watches off my wrist. Love the SeaQ, the two tone grey has been tapping me on my shoulder. Need to get a an AD, not sure if I can pull off the size. Happy Thanksgiving brother!

You too, Ralph! Your GO is a stunner…I’ve been eyeballing the brand for awhile, and something with complications may be in order soon. That TT panorama date SeaQ is killer, definitely concur.

Hope you enjoy thanksgiving with the family!

Was able to try one yesterday, and really enjoyed it. It is hard to unsee after looking at the 43.5 back casing. But the color is fantastic and i hope to pick one up soon.

Were you able to negotiate on price if you dont mind sharing?

Hi I was thinking about trading an SLA 037 and maybe a BB58 for one of these. Would you recommend? How do they compare? I think you own/owned the SLA at least?

Well, let’s put it this way…both my OG and navy 58s are gone, and not missed. You’re correct, I have the SLA037 as well. While I like it a lot, it’s now listed for sale, so there’s that.

If the SLA037 was 2mm thinner, it would be a keeper for me. The SeaQ is almost 2x as expensive as the SLA037 at retail, but in terms of the happiness-per-$-spent ratio, it wins by a significant margin.

I’m really enamored with the finishing on the dial and case of the SeaQ, and the bracelet is fantastic. Highly recommend going for it.

Good, I’m glad you enjoyed it. Fantastic watches. I do recommend negotiating on price, but it’s a solid value regardless. Lotta positives for the price.

Awesome, thanks and will do. I'm stuck between going for the 39.5 and the 43.5. I like both for different reasons. Don't have the biggest of wrists but that doesn't stop me from wearing the MM300 either. Tough one!

Definitely struggled with that question myself - I wear the MM300 and a SD43, but I do tend to prefer somewhat smaller watches (36-42mm) as a rule.

I kicked the tires on grabbing the RG 43.5 version when I saw a used one come up at a decent price over the summer…and the grey dial TT version is killer.

I’ve really got to see it in the metal and try it on - the 15.65mm thickness is really not in my wheelhouse. Lots to like about the panorama date versions though, tough choice for sure.

I have to say, on the 037, I've never struggled with a watch more in terms of whether I want to keep it or not. I love the idea of it but there's just something that doesn't hit my heart.

I have the Sea Q panorama date.It beats any Rolex in the quality department in
my book. The bracelet is a bit bling, but also a work of art.
It wears much better than my old 43 mm red dweller.Having owned
at least 40 Rolex watches i can say with all honesty, this watch is in a different
class, and should only be compared to a Blancpain Fifty Fathoms. No Sub or Dweller
come close to this watch.

Yea, I’ve had the same struggle with the 037…no struggle whatsoever with this one tho!

Hasn’t left my wrist yet and I’m usually a change at least once a day kind of guy.

I’m really psyched to see the panorama data model in the metal. The pics look incredible.

The BP FF is another option I’ve been considering…the 43mm size and 13.4mm thickness may be a better fit than the bigger SeaQ, but I’m looking forward to trying both on. I agree the quality of GO is significant.

The 43.2mm wears great on most any male wrist, when you think it's too big it's just your mind playing tricks on you. Let your mind adjust. More than a short try at the AD.

Between the Bathyscaphe 43 and the SeaQ 43.2 the BP wears a tad larger because the case is more straight, the curved lugs on the SeaQ help.

My wrist is 17.5-18cm and I love it, it's a dominant watch for sure but very comfortable on the textile strap.

Regarding height, part height is the domed sapphire and part is the domed case back. The sapphire you'll never 'feel' as height and the case back disappears 'in' the wrist, so the real feel is a 'normal' height watch, like so:

Regarding Seiko SLA, I own the SLA017 and it's a very nice watch but since I got the SeaQ I hardly wear it. I can't sell it yet but the thought has crossed my mind.

The SeaQ is a HH diver watch. It's just tremendous value and the brand itself is a hidden gem. It's a brand for true watch enthusiasts.

(I said my congrats on WuS, for those who might feel I am being rude)

I had the same struggle! I actually went blue mostly because I have a hulk and was worried the reed green would look to similar; but now I see you’ve got one too and they don’t look so similar at all!

who know, may end up switching up at some point but I’m happy for the time being :)

Love it man, your pics are what have had me eyeballing that model!

Great point about the domed crystal’s contribution to the overall height, just like this one…totally disappears on the wrist.

I’m a sea-dweller nut and you described the caseback in the same way I do the SD 16660/16600/126600: it disappears into the wrist and wears smaller.

Fantastic watch! Looks great.
