Would you trade a ss Daytona for a Daytona on of?

I know we don’t discuss fakes here but be careful, especially with ceramic models!

Tough to say. Those two combos are my favourite Daytonas.

Depends which SS Daytona. Black dial, yes, white dial... maybe.

You should have both. If you trade, I think you have to add cash to the trade.

I would not trade a bracelet model for one on an Oysterflex.

Is the OF model a PM piece? That would be an easy decision.

Nope., agree with Mystro. As someone who has a SS and a PM on OF, I would not make the trade. I feel like the bracelet is more versatile.

This is a crazy world we live in when a stainless steel bracelet means more than a PM on OF. In addition to PM the dial on the PM OF Daytonas are on another level compared to the SS.

This is a really good point. The PM on OF is more valuable, I think the bracelet is more versatile. Depends on the other watches in the collection. Can’t go wrong with either one.

Daytona ss ceramic upgrade

In a heart beat. I much prefer solid subdials on the PM models.

Plus you get the heft and presence of PM with durability of oysterflex and ceramic bezel. It’s a knock out!

Nope....I would not. Why not just get another band for your 116500 if you like that look? I'd keep what you have.

I would not. The SS version gives multiple options while the PM version is stuck to oysterflex (or other strap).

Here’s what I mean by options:

Can't argue that black dial looks amazing on all options

Thank you. You guys are too kind. Ultimately, I’ve owned a lot of watches in my years (not as many as some of our forum members), yet the 116500 is by far my favorite for many reasons. For me, it surpasses the hype. It has substance

Me too. I have owned more Rolex models over the last 30 years than I can remember and the 116500LN is about as perfect as it gets. One huge factor to any Daytona is the comfort on the wrist as the case back is THE flattest Rolex makes. This distributes any weight over a larger area than a semi-domed case back like a Sub, DD, or GMT. I have learned that regardless how good a watch looks, if it’s not super comfortable, it won’t get as much wrist time.

I have had a black 116500 since 2018 and it’s my all time favorite watch wearing it almost everyday. For the trade I think it depends what other watches you have. If you have another steel Daytona I think upgrading to OF is a good idea. I would personally not swap / upgrade my 116500 for an OF Daytona.
