Rolex professional model purchase restriction?

My AD says normally you are only allowed to purchase 1 professional model(like Sub, GMT) every 12 months, is that true?

edit:1 ss professional model.

Extremely doubtful all ADs are in business for one thing only, to sell as many of there products to remain a liable profitable business.

Certainly not true at my AD. I purchased an SS Sky Dweller and Daytona in 2021.
It may be a rule your local AD has put in place.

Informally I was told 3 and something like 8 months but it was said pretty casually with my SA who I've known for years.

Sharing where you are located in the world would help validate your ADs statement.

In Japan and Korea, what your AD said is true.

Japan = 1 Sports and 1 non sports per year ( 2 Total)

Korea = 1, regardless of model per year.

Life life without regret and in good health!

Curious to hear your perspective if this actually works.

My AD does not have a hard rule on this but does like to spread the allocation around to be as fair as possible. Of course there are always the exemptions..

Depends on location - here AD can give you 1 Rolex every 12 months ish, and even longer if you got one of the hot models (sports, SS DJ, Sky, etc). But i guess many VVIP customers have exceptions :/

Even if your AD told you that, it probably won't be that way for all their clients.

I believe that's totally true, everything has exceptions, but for the normal customer(no huge purchase history), rules apply to us.

I bought an OP, a CHNR and a TT Sky Dweller from my AD in 2021. The OP and Sky Dweller were from stock, the CHNR had an 11 month wait. Had they all been wait listed it is possible that my AD might modulate who they gave them to and at what frequency, but I don't know that.

I only got one watch in 2022. But since it was my BLRO on Oyster, I'm not complaining.

There are no rules. This is just a way for them to tell you they won’t give you all you want. See it this way. Can YOU ask the hotel to remodel the room? No you can’t. Can a celebrity? Yes they can.

Can YOU get multiple SSs? Nope. Can a very famous singer? Yes.

I am interested to learn why/how a normal person would want to buy or could afford more than 1 professional model per year

In Aust, and I have a relationship with two of the ADs in my city. The statement holds true for me, they won’t let you put an expression of interest for a professional model within 12 months of being allocated one. Non-professional models however, you can buy whatever they have in stock with no limits - it does help you get your EOI piece faster though

I doubt if u could get one per year. If u can that means u re VVIP and don't think it will affect u. Like me I may not get one in 2 or 5 years or forever. Lol

OP this is likely your ADs policy. Those who spend big usually get what they want and aren’t limited to a specific quantity as you’ve specified.

I'm ok at that rate these days. Started collecting in 2014 so at the point where that 1 SS PRO every 12 months kind of makes sense.

I was told the same as in the first post. AD told me that Rolex wants to distribute watches the way - one sport model for one customer (not per year, but at all), as they want to get sport model to as many (different) customers as possible. I don't know if it's true or if anytime it will be true, I just say what I have heard.

edit - AD told me that in July 2021
