Day-Date 18038 sanity check

Hi folks from UK, thanks for the forum, very useful.

I'm on the hunt for an 18038 DD36 to wear on special occasions and to pass on to my son. I've got other daily watches such as a DJ which get more wear.

I've found one that was striking my interest due to competitive pricing, but am I right in saying that the dial has definitely being swapped? Batons and rolex logo are silver, and never seen that on a gold DD (?).

It's on watchmaster dotcom, code L7F2L3N4FI, but I can't post the direct link or pic due to being a newbue.

I'm not adverse to dial swaps, but would rather remain true to original design of course.

Thanks for your help.

It definitely has an original Rolex dial but it may not be the dial it originally shipped with as the battons are different color than the hands or case (as you mentioned). It also has no box or papers. You're better off finding one with all intact although you'll pay more. Really it's your call as to what is more valuable to you, originality or cash.

Yes dial was switched from a champagne to white dial. The dates and day have the almond color that champagne dials come with. An original white dial Would have white date and day wheels

Thanks for confirmation everyone, and thanks for pointing this bit out. It does look a bit odd having the champagne against white. Skip this one I think :)

Silver crown and batons were for the 18039 white gold model
