Recommend leather strap for gold Submariner?

I've seen lots of great photos with leather bands but I don't know the source of the bands.

I've got a 1680/8 w/black detail and am thinking a black leather strap / band, perhaps with contrasting thread color and gold (plated?) hardware. Not sure if I should care about "Rolex" buckle or deployment clasp. I'd love to have recommendations and advice -- thanks!

My personal opinion, leather strap on a dive watch doesn’t make sense. There, I said it Panerai. If you must go with a strap instead of a gold bracelet, I’d go rubber.

I picked up a bund strap from Jack Foster recently. They are an American Made company in Greenville, SC. The strap is top notch, they have other leather accessories that are nice as well.

Point taken. But I suppose there has been 50 years of discussion regarding the merits of a dive watch made of gold and displaying the date!

I think it makes sense for me to limit use of the 9290/8 bracelet to special occasions, and I'd like an alternative for more regular use. I'll look for examples of the rubber straps.

Don't know how this would look on a gold Sub but this combo caught my eye.

I think this type of leather strap can look really good on Rolex Gold Sub too.

The picture below I got it from internet.

If it worked then Rolex would sell one. Personally I think leather straps should be saved for dress watches.

Suede straps from GLC Straps

Alligator curved strap from Delugs

Both brands recommended. I would advise to get a curved strap - I have had many standard straps and the edge always get destroyed by the very sharp inner lugs.

Thanks. I like the look of a rally strap and will see what I can find in black. I like the contrasting thread that pulls in another color from the watch.
