Rolex 24 at Daytona about to start, racing for the watch!

Getting ready for the green flag. Going to be epic!

Love it. It’s a display model. Even Rolex can’t get a retail one. Lol

116503, same watch awarded since 2017. 116520 for a few years before that, IIRC.

Just in case demand is waning for stainless Daytonas, Rolex is running a beautiful advert all about one on an Oysterflex.....

May have to run to my AD first thing in the morning...

Why did they switch from SS to TT? Does Rolex change the watch every 5 years or so?

The waiting list is too long for a SS Daytona even for Rolex.

So true. I saw the broadcasters talking about the watch which they had in the studio. They didn’t seems to know how crazy the Daytona and Rolex worlds are right now…

This watch looks so good with your Daytona stuff right here…

LoL... It's the race watch that started the craze. If the winner can't get one, no-one has a shot. Maybe he'll just flip the TT and go grey.

Assume you mean flip the watch, not the car.

The GTD Pro race for the win over the last two hours was incredible.

Jaminet and Vanthoor put on a hell of a show. Pfaff earned their watches, as did all the winners. Tough race!

Vanthoor is a consumate professional! https://sportscar365.com/imsa/iwsc/v...QafZhTg_xYuq-M

They awarded white 16520's in the late 1990's, then alternated between white and black 116520's starting in 2000, then in 2010 they began sprinkling in 116523's among the white dials, then in 2016 finally switched to the 116503 TT until now. Never awarded a 116500LN in this country, AFAIK. Didn't have any. ;)

LeMans 24 is different, they've awarded black face 116500LN's since 2016.

Thanks for the info! I have always wondered what references they won. Just slowly getting into Daytonas…my wallet is in trouble

And that last lap, wow edge of your seat stuff!!

Yes, both in GTD Pro and in LMP2. Amazing race!

I've had several friends and clients win them at this race over the years.

Also, in a short-lived historic racing series owned by Zak Brown, Bobby Rahal and Peter Stoneberg sponsored by Rolex called Legends of Motorsports.

But, I had to buy my own!

The race and association with Paul Newman is the main reason I bought a 116520 too. I wish I could have got an older Daytona but the used market prices are way too high.

Controversial statement but my Omega Speedmaster will be #1 watch for all time thanks to its space exploration legacy.

The box is the same size, it’s just the Daytona watch trophies are resized to a 18mm case.

I know it may seem petty, but I am so happy of this … my second favorite race (1st goes to Monaco) and my most special watch.
